Nita Sue SPIEGEL, Age 73 of
Fairfield went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 13, 2010,
at Mercy Hospital Fairfield after a short battle with cancer. She
was born on December 11, 1936, in Jackson, KY, to the late Garland
and Lillian (Watkins) Callahan. Nita was a member of North Fairfield
Baptist Church. She attended Eastern Kentucky University, Richmond,
KY, and retired from Procter and Gamble in 1993. Famous for her
passion for Bible study, travel, and Civil War history, particularly
Robert E. Lee, Nita frequently taught classes, visited Confederate
monuments, and examined brochures for travel possibilities. She will
be lovingly missed by her sons Douglas (Thais) Miller, Brentwood,
TN; Steven (Lisa) Miller, Hamilton, OH, sister Dolores (Carl)
Swanson of Virginia Beach, VA and sister-in-law Patricia (Arno)
Wilson, West Harrison, IN. She is also survived by six grandchildren
and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her
parents; husband Edward Lee Spiegel of Fairfield, OH; and brothers
Billy Ray Callahan and Michael Lynn Callahan, both of Jackson, KY.
Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, January 17, 2010, at the
Avance Funeral Home and Crematory, 4976 Winton Road, Fairfield. The
service is scheduled at Avance Funeral Home for Monday, January 18,
2010, at 10 a.m. with Pastor Mark Wilson officiating. Interment will
follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Hamilton. In lieu of flowers,
memorials may be made to the North Fairfield Baptist Church Memorial
Scholarship, 6853 Gilmore Road, Fairfield Township, OH 45011.
