Goldia M.
STURGILL, age 90 of Hamilton, Ohio, formerly of
Laurel County, Kentucky, passed away peacefully in the arms of her
Savior on September 8, 2009 at Hospice of Hamilton. She was
born on
May 24, 1919 in London,
Kentucky, the daughter of the late Isaac and Della (Hampton)
Hicks. Goldia was a long time member of Tuley Road Church
of the Nazarene, serving in the Children's Ministries. On December
31, 1934 in London, Kentucky she married Cecil Sturgill and after
64 years of marriage he passed away on December 23, 1998. Goldia
is survived by her three children, Robert (Martha) Sturgill, Jewel
(Don) Gabbard and Lois (Ken) Turman; nine grandchildren, Jeff
Sturgill, Donna Schellenbach, Beverly Thompson, Tim Sturgill, Mike
Sturgill, Brenda S. Becknell, Shari Gabbard, Denny Turman and Kris
Turman; thirteen great grandchildren and nine great great
grandchildren; one sister Mildred Seeley Cupp of Laurel, Indiana.
She was also preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Cleo
Hicks, Adna Hicks, Florence Edwards, Birdie Miller and infant
daughter Leila Sturgill. The family wishes to extend their sincere
thanks to her dear friends and caregivers, Joe Huskey, Deloris
Deems, Doris Brueggman, Dr. Krall and the staff at Hospice of
Hamilton for their excellent care and kindness to all of us.
Funeral service will be held at 7:30 pm on Thursday September 10,
2009 at the Webb Noonan Funeral Home with Rev. Roger Green
Officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to time of
service on Thursday at the funeral home. Graveside service will be
held at 1:00 pm on September 12, 2009 at Swiss Colony Cemetery in
London, Kentucky with Tim Sturgill officiating. Visitation will be
held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday at Bowling Funeral Home
in London, Kentucky. Pallbearers will be Jeff Sturgill, Mike
Sturgill, Denny Turman, Robert Lee Edwards, Taylor Miller and
Kenneth Lewis with Cody Turman leading the procession. Condolences
