Wedding Declared Off
James Adams, aged fifty-eight, and a veteran of the late war, and Miss Rebecca Baker, aged fifty-three, were to have been married at Winchester last night and the marriage license had been secured. Shortly before the hour for the ceremony Miss Baker announced that the wedding was off, she having concluded to remain single, and all efforts to let the ceremony proceed were futile. The parties reside three miles north of the little village and are well to do.

Good Horse
Clarence Dodds, the genial and popular mail carrier, was wearing a long face today. Mr. Thomas a horseman, came down here from Franklin yesterday for the express purpose of trying Clarence's fast pacing horse. The mail man didn't think the horseman was very anxious to buy so he put a price on the animal and the fellow produced the cash and took the horse to Franklin with him. It was like parting with one of the family for Clarence was very much attached to the animal. Mr. Thomas also bought two good horses of George Bridge the drayman, this week paying fancy prices for both of them.
