January, 1809

 

January the 1 1809. New Years Day I went to meeting. Mr Sms text was in Dan  V & 23. then we surrounded the table of our blesed Lord & Redeamer in rememberance of him.

2. On Mon I went to Marks & got some pine nots.

3. On Tues I dresd 6 1/2 pounds of flax.

4. On Wed I cleand up some oats & began to thrash wheet.

5. On Thurs I thrashd wheet & took up my flax.

6. On Fri I thrashd wheet.

7. On Sat I thrashd wheet in the fore noon & went to Roadstown in PM & took  some grain to uncle Daniel & Edward Welch & came to Denis s & stade the evening.

8. On Sun I went to meeting. Mr Sms text was in 1st peter I & 11.

9. On Mon I cut & carted a lode of fire wood.

10. On Tues I went in the swamp & shot one rabit in AM & broke flax in PM.

11. On Wed I cleand up 12 1/2 bushels of wheet.

12. On Thurs and Fri I thrashd wheet. D Sheppard helpd me. I went to
    bridgetown.

14. On Sat I finishd thrashing wheet & cleand up 6 bushels.

15. On Sun I went to meeting.  Mr J Sheppard preachdfrom Reve I & 10.

16. On Mon I cleand up 9 1/2 bushels of wheet.

17. On Tues I swingled flax.

18. On Wed I wrote a letter to Samuel & went to Jeddidiah Davis s to get
    some money & then went to mill & to John Reeves s & got my waggon
    wheels.

19. On Thurs I went to Shilo & took my waggon wheels & then to father in laws & to Stephen Reeves s Vendue.

20. On Fri I made slab fence & went to Jonathan Platts s to meeting in the
    evening. John Davis preachdfrom Jerem VI & 16.

21. On Sat I dresd 13 lb of flax.

22. On Sun I stade at home & was unwell with a cold.

23. On Mon I went to bridgetown & signd a deed for the house & lot that
    belongd to the church as a trustee.

24. On Tues & Wed I dresd flax.

26. On Thurs I workd some at a blind bridle & cleand up some oats. the snow was about 5 inches deep.

27. On Fri I went to mill.

28. On Sat I dersd flax.

29. On Sun I went to meeting. Mr Sms text was in st John VI & 44. in the
    evening I went to Mr Longs whare Mr Sm preachd from these L & 10.

30. On Mon I workd at a bling bridle & a rideing bridle.

February, 1809

 

February th 1. On Wed I mended my sled & went to bridgetown. good slaying.

2. On Thurs I went to Ozwell Ayres s.

3. On Fri I went to David Swineys & got two gees & dersd a little flax.

4. On Sat I went to monthly meeting. Mr Sms text was in Math XVI & 19. the snow melts some.

5. On Sun I went to Mr Longs to meeting at 4 oclock PM. Mr Smalley preachd from Philipans II & 16.

6. On Mon I did notions in the house. very sloppy.

7. On Tues I dresd a little flax & cut some wood in the swamp.

8. On Wed I finishd mending J Platts s shoes & finishd making a riding
    bridle & broke a little flax.

9. On Thurs I dresd some flax & cut Gillided (?) some wood out of the swamp & went to daddys to scoiety meeting.

10. On Fri I cut & cleded wood out of the swamp.

11. On Sat I dresd flax.

12. On Sun I was sick & cept my bed all day. very chilly.

13. On Mon I was very sick. a violent pain in my head.

14. On Tues I was still sick. the pain in my head still remains.

15. On Wed I grew a little better of the plewracy in my head.

16. On Thurs I sat up a little.

17. On Fri I sat up part of the day.

18. On Sat I mend a little.

19. On Sun I sat up the most of the day. John Tubman came here & stade all  night.

20. On Mon I still keep very unwell. John Tubman started home.

21. On Tues I soald a pare of shoes for Ozwell Ayres. daddy & mammy came  here in PM.

22. On Wed I dresd some flax & went to court in the after noon.

23. On Thurs I mended one of my shoes & cleand up a little oats & finishd
    thrashing.

24. On Fri I dresd flax & went to Shilo at night.

25. On Sat I cleand up oats. there was between 40 & 50 bushels. then sowd  some clover ceed & soald a pare of shoes from Ozwell Ayres.

26. On Sun I went to meeting. Mr Sms text was in Math XXIV & 14.

27. On Mon I ent to Shilo P& got my new waggon & took to John Reeves  to get irons.

 

March, 1809

March the 1. On Wed I went to Nathan Tumblesons Vendue & came to Edwards &  got supper & then went to David Gilmans to meeting. David Bateman preachd from 1 Peter IV & 18.

2. On Thurs I finishd trimming the young orchard. daddy helpd me.

3. On Fri I went tomill. father in law came hear.

4. On Sat I went to monthly meeting. Mr Sms text was in st Marks V 18-19.

5. On Sun I went to meeting. MrSms text was in st Luke XXIV 25 & 26. after sermon we took the sacrement.

6. On Mon I dresd flax.

7. On Tues I went to John Reeves s & got the plow irons sharpend then dresd  flax. J Plats helpd me. Charles began to plow for corn.

8. On Wed I trimd some trees & cut up the brush. it thundred & raind at
    night.

9. On Thurs I workd some at leviling the durt on the stone querry & sowd
    some clover ceed.

10. On Fri I finishd lefiling the dirt onthe stone querry & wheeld dort in
    the cow yard.

11. On Sat I went to John Reeves s & brought home my new two hors waggon  then wheeld the dung from the hogg pen into a heep.

12. On Sun I went to meeting. Mr Parrot preachd from st tim I & 15. came
    home & dind then went to the court house whare Mr Parrot preachd from  Jere VIII & 22.

13. On Mon I spun rope yarn. it came on to snow about noon. the snow was about 8 or 10 inches deep. very much bankd.

14. On Tues I went to town meeting. cold. tolerable good slaying.

15. On Wed I fixd up a barrel churn. the snow melted some.

16. On Thurs I finishd dresing the flax I took of father in law & I went &
    took his part home.

17. On Fri I went to the marsh & lookd at the bank then went to John Minor & bought some fowls.

18. On Sat I went to John Reeves s & got some smith work done then got some  eggs at shulls store then came home & mended the straps to the coverd waggon.

19. On Sun I went to meeting. Mr Joseph Sheppard preachd from Rom III &  3-4-5.

20. On Mon I trimd some trees & made a pig troff & started to philladelphia  about 6 oclock & drove all night.

21. On Tues I got to the ferry about 7 oclock & went over into the citty &
    sold our market stuff & came over the river & stade all night at Isaac
    Smiths.

 

22. On Wed I or we started from the ferry about 7 iin AM & got home about 5  PM.

23. On Thurs I went & bought some fowls.

24. On Fri I dresd flax.

25. On Sat I went to mill & to bridgetown & then fixd up a hen coop.

26. On Sun I went to meeting. Mr D Swiney preachd from Mark Vii & 24 last  clause.

27. On Mon I went to daddys & paid him 5 Dollars & then made some slab  fence. cold for the season.

28. On Tues I started to Philladelphia at 1/2 past 6 & got to the ferry at 5
    in PM & sold my calves & fowls then went across the river & back then
    staid with Isaac Smith. daddy was with me. very cold this morning.

29. On Wed I or we started from the ferry at 7 & got home at 1/2 past 5.

30. On Thurs I let daddy have some Salt hay & sowd some clover ceed. Daniel  Swiney preachd here in the evening from st John VIII & 47. D Swiney bled  me.

April, 1809

 

April 1. On Sat I went to monthly meeting. Mr Sms text was in 2nd Corns IV   & 3. after sermon we attended to business & to renting the seats &
    settleing for them. warm for the season.

2. On Sun I went to meeting. Daniel Swiney preachd from Ephe IV & 30. Mr  Smalley administerd the supper.

3. On Mon I went to the company training at Bridgetown.

4. On Tues I workd on the garden & sat out unyans then sow one and a half  acre of flax.

5. On Wed I sowd my oats.

6. On Thurs I made part of a watter wheel to fix a churn to go by watter.

7. On Fri I mended a pare of shoes for Amy Sheppard (?) & went to John
    Reeves s & settled with him.

8. On Sat I plowd in daddys field.

9. On Sun I went to meeting. Mr Sms text was in Isai LV & middle part of
    the 3 verses. frost & ice this morning.

10. On Mon I went to the marsh & workd on Caleb Barrets Bank.
11. On Tues I took some corn from the crib to the barn & went to mill in PM.

12. On Wed I carted saw logs to Cooks Mill for Ozwell Ayres.

13. On Thurs I went to uncle Johnson Reeves s a visiting.

14. On Fri I fixd my churn to go by watter.

15. On Sat I dug stone. I planted some peas.

16. On Sun I went to meeting. Mr Sms text was in st John III & 14.

17. On Mon I went to the bridge then dug some stone & went & sowd some oats in David Swineys field.

18. On Tues I dug stone & went & finishd sowing oats.

19. On Wed I made a  pare of bar posts & set them in & went to bridgetown.

 

20. On Thurs I was very unwell & made a sheath to my plow.

21. On Fri I workd in the nusry.

22. On Sat I carted a lode of stone to the meeting house & helpd mend the
    road in John Fithians lane.

23. On Sun I went to meeting. Wm Steeling prachd from st John IV & 24. there was a very hard shower as we came home.

24. On Mon I traind at Bridgetown. the ofices met alone.

25. On Tues I dresd flax.

26. On Wed I soald 3 pare of shoes for John Fithian.

27. On Thurs I cut some stockd. Charles plowd for daddy. I cut some straw &  planted some potatoes.

28. On Fri I workd on the dams at holms Marsh.

29. On Sat I workd on the DAms. frost & ice for 3 monrings & cold weather.

 

May,1809

May the 1. On Mon I went to father in laws & fixd for Charles to plow with 3 horses then came home & workd in the garden.

2. On Tues I went to the marsh & workd on the Dames.

3. On Wed I drove team at father in laws & went to meeting at roadstown. Mr   Foreman preachd from Joshu XXIV & 15.

4. On Thurs I traind at Bridgetown Batalian training.

5. On Fri I plowd at father in laws.

* 6. On Sat I went to monthly meeting. Mr Sms text was in Galns V & 1.
      after sermon there were 3 examond. Amy were one. I pray the Lord to
      enable us to walk in all the Commandments & ordinances of the Lord
      blameless. frost this morning.

7. On Sun I went to meeting. Mr Sms text was in LXII Psalm 1 verse. it was some showery with thunder.

8. On Mon I plowd at father in laws in the fore noon then began to plant
    corn at home.

9. On Tues I planted corn & washd sheep.

10. On Wed I planted corn.

11. On Thurs I planted corn at home in the fore noon then went to father in
    laws in PM.  J PLatts s boys helpd me.

12. On Fri I carted 4 lodes of dung & put in the corn hills in AM & sat in
    the room in the after noon. Brother Samuel & a lady & Wm Steelings was  her & stade all night.

* 13. On Sat I went to yearly meeting. Mr Roggers preachd from the XXV
 Psalm & 3 verses. then went to daddys & dind then went to bridgetown.  there was 3 persons Baptisd. Amy were one. then went to the court  house whare Brother Samuel preachd from Amos IV & 12 latter clause of the vers.

14. On Sun I went to meeting. Mr Rogers preachd from Acts V & 42. after a few minutes inter mision Mr Dogg preachd from the fiftieth Psalm & 2  vers then the 3 that was Baptisd yesterday was receivd & Dr Roggers    administerd the Supper. then went to father in laws & dind then wene to

the meeting house at Bridgetown whare Mr Dogg prachd from Isai LIV & 13.

15. On Mon I planted some corn & went to yearly meeting. Mr Dodge preachd  from Luke X & 42. after a short inter mishion Mr Rogers preachd from  luke VI & 21. the yearly meeting ended. then we went to Denis Sheppards  & dind then went to the meeting house at bridgetown whare Mr Rogers preachd from Daniel V & 23 the last clause of the verse.

16. On Tues I planted corn at father in laws.

17. On Wed I finishd planting corn at father in laws.
18. On Thurs I planted a little corn & sheard my sheep & then went to
    Bridgetown.

19. On Fri I went towards bridgtown & got a ram that has been gon all winter  & sheard him then finishd planting corn & mended a net.

20. On Sat I made fence.

21. On Sun I went to meeting. Mr Sms text was in Colos II & 6.

22. On Mon I workd at a sluss at bridgetown.

23. On Tues I workd at the sluss for holms Marsh that J Platts built.

24. On Wed I went to the Mill & then split some rails.

25. On Thurs I went to Shilo & to Samuel Davis s a visiting.

26. On Fri I dresd 10 lb of flax & went to bridgetown with a lode of wood.

27. On Sat I went to the mouth of the crick a fishing & caught one rock
    (? bass) that weighd 5 1/2 lb & a good mess of small fish.

28. On Sun I went to meeting. Mr Sms text was in Ezekel XXXIV & 23.

29. On Mon I replanted corn & went to roadstown to an oficer training.

30. On Tues I workd at the marsh at diging a tailway for a new sluise.

 

June, 1809

June th 1. On Thurs I cut out a pare of shoes & made one.

2. On Fri I workd in the sluise raise at the marsh.

3. On Sat I helpd stop a brach in Tittsworths bank.

4. On Sun I went to meeting.  Mr Sms text was in Acts XIII & 28-29. after
    sermon we commund at the Lords table.

5. On Mon I replanted corn at father in laws in AM. I made a shoe in PM.

6. On Tues I planted potatoes.

7. On Wed I planted some watter mellon & pumpkins seeds then went to court  & was calld on a jury & was dismisd for the  night without the triel
    comeing to an ishue.

8. On Thurs I ent to court & went on to the jury & was dismisd for our
    dinner then came to gether & was sent out about 5 oclock & came in about  7 oclock. the verdict was in favour of Hollingshead the defendant.

9. On Fri I went to the marsh & workd on the new sluise race. there was a
    house burnt with lightning in Bridgetown.

10. On Sat I went & helpdlay the new sluise.

11. On Sun I went to meeting. Mr Sm was absent. Joseph Sheppard red a sermon from Micha VI & 3.

12. On Mon I went to bridgetown in AM & plowd corn in PM.

13. On Tues I went to the review training at Ira Fithians.

14. On Wed, Thurs & Fri I plowd corn.

17. On Sat I workd on the road in Homs s Marsh.

18. On Sun I went to meeting. Mr Sms text was in Isai XI & 10.

July th 1. On Sat I rakd hay in Clarks marsh & carted a lode out of my lot.

2. On Sun I was 29 years old & went to meeting. Mr Sms text was in st John IV & 35. after sermon there was one recievd in tothe church then the
    Lords supper administed.

3. On Mon I carted one lode of hay from our marsh & one from Clarks.

4. On Tues I carted a lode of hay for Clarks & fetchd one home.

5. On Wed I plowd corn in AM & carted a lode of hay for the widdow Randolph  in the after noon.

6. On Thurs I plowd corn in the fore noon & went to father in laws in the
    after noon & harrowd corn.

7. On Fri I went to bridgetown & got the plow irons sharpend & went to
    bucks  mill & got some wool carded then dungd some potatoes in the roe & ground my cythe.

8. On Sat I went to tindons island & mowd for father in law.

9. On Sun I stade & kep the child in the fore noon & went to our school
    house in the after noon.

10. On Mon I cradold wheet for daddy.

11. On Tues I cradold rye for daddy.

12. On Wed I pulldflax in the fore noon & began to dradol wheet in the after noon.

13. On Thurs and Fri I cradold wheet.

15. On Sat I pulld flax & carted in some wheet.

16. On Sun I went to meeting. Mr Sms text was in Hosea II & 13. the youth  repeated the catechisms. in the after noon I went to the school house to society meeting. J Platts red a sermon.

17. On Mon I cradold some oats pulld some flax & cradold some wheet.

18. On Tues I cardold wheet.

19. On Wed I made a rake head & went to Ozwells & board (bored) it.

20. On Thurs I finishd a rake & finishd cradoling wheet & pulld some flax &  cradold some oate. was taken sidk here & went home towards night.

22. On Sat I went to tindons island & carted hay on board Ephraem Bishops vessel for father in law.

23. On Sun I went to meeting.  Mr Sm was absent. Harvy Sheppard red a sermon from Jerem XXXI & 18-19-20.

24. On Mon I finishd cradoling oats at home & took up a few.

25. On Tues I took up & carted in oats.

26. On Wed I went to beidgetown in the monring then thrashd & cleand up some  wheet.

27. On Thurs I took up oats & carted the last of the oats & flax at home &
    thrashd some wheet.

28. On Fri I went to tindond island & rakd & carted home a lode of hay.

29. On Sat I onloded my salt hay & finishd mowing the swamp & went to the  school house for it was the last day of the quarter that --ake Jarris
    (?Harris) has taught.

30. On Sun I went to meeting. Mr Sms text was in Phil III & 10 first clause  of the verse. then came home & dind then went to the school house to society meeting. J Platts red a sermon.  a few drops of rain. it is very
dry.

 

August, 1809

August th 1. On Tues I cradold & took up some oats in David Swineys field &  carted the hay in the swamp 3 lodes.

2. On Wed I mowd in the wild marsh for John Platts.

3. On Thurs I took up oats in D Swineys field & carted in the whole 75 doz.

4. On Fri i took up some oats in D S field & cut a little wood.

5. On SatI went to monthly meeting. Mr Sms text was in (blank space) then  went to Edwards & got diner.

6. On Sun I went to meeting. Mr Sms text was in CXXXVII Psalm 4 verse.  after sermon we surrounded the table of our blesed Lord. came home & dind then went to the school house to society meeting.

7. On Mon I carted 2 lodes of hay for AndrewHahn from on board of the
    vessel at bridge town.

8. On Tues I carted a lode of hay for Jon Platts from the wild marsh.

9. On Wed I carted one lode or hay for J Platts then made some fnece in the swamp.
10. On Thurs I mowd at the ludly marsh for my self.

* 11. On Fri I cleand some wheet & went to mill then split some rails & made a fence round the hay stacks. I receivd a letter from E Bereman that
gave the account of Aunt Sallys Death. she died last month.

    Mark Bowens on a visit.

13. On Sun I went to meeting. Mr Sms text was i Isai L & 10. came home &  dind then went to the school house to society meeting.

14. On Mon I turnd dung & sowd some turnup ceed inthe garden. a good shower from the west.

15. On Tues I went to the wheeton marsh & turnd & rakd some hay & brought  home a lode.

16. On Wed I went & finishd raking hay & brought home a lode.

17. On Thurs I went to the marsh & fethd home a turn. a fine rain.

18. On Fri I went to Bucks Mill & got some wool carded then came home &  stackd a lode of hay & hode some potatoes.

19. On Sat I went to the marsh & brought home the last turn of hay then made  a little fence in the swamp.

20. On Sun I went to Dearfield meeting. Mr Reeves preachd from one text.

21. On Mon I thrashd wheet.

22. On Tues I went to Nobles Mill & go some fence boards then thrashd some  wheet.

23. On Wed I workd at the barn flore & cleand up 5 1/4 bushels of wheet 19  doz has made 9 bushels.

24. On Thurs I lade a flor in of wheet & began to tred then went to
    Bridgetown & got a letter from Brother Samuel.

25. On Fri I finishd treding the floring & cleand up 8 1/2 bushels of the
    red bearded wheet then thrashd some oats.

26. On Sat I went to mores mill & then to John Reeves s in PM & got the plow
    share lade.

27. On Sun I went to meeting. Mr Sms text was in luke XVIII & 13. after noon went to the school house to society meeting.

28. On Mon I finishd the barn flore & trod a forin of wheet.

29. On Tues I went to father in laws & to daddys then came home & workd at a  barn door frame.

30. On Wed I went to bridgetown in the morning then thrashd some wheet &  workd some at a door for the barn. very dry so we cant plow.

 

September, 1809

 

September th 1. On Fri I went to the ceder swamp  & got forty rails.

2. On Sat I went to monthly meeting. Brother Steelings preachd from Roms V & 1-2 verses. it raind a little.

3. On Sun I went to meeting. Mr Huson preachd from st Peter II & 24. after  sermon  Mr Smalley administerd the Lords Supper. came home & dind then  went to the court house whare Mr Huson preachd from the 117 pslam 7 vers.

4. On Mon I cleand 71/2 bushels of wheet & carted 7 lodes of dung.

5. On Tues I spred some dung & cleand up 4 bushels of wheet then workd at  the barn doors.

6. On Wed I carted a lode of hay for D Platts from the wild marsh.

7. On Thurs I carted dung & went to daddys.

8. On Fri I spred dung in the morning then cleand up 16 bus of oats from 11  doz then carted 4 lodes of dung. geting very dry again.

9. On Sat I carted some dung & hung one of the barn doors then ground the  cythes.

10. On Sun I went to meeting. David Dare red a sermon.

11. On Mon I mowed on Clarks marsh.

12. On Tues I started tothe marsh. it cameon to rain & I came home & hung  the other barn door then cilld a calf.

13. On Wed I went to bridge town & took some of my veal & the skin then went  to the marsh & finishd mowing on Clarks marsh.

14. On Thurs I emtied & fixd a cask & made one barrel & an half of cider.

15. On Fri I mowd my marsh. J Platts helpd me. Mr Long rakd for me in
    Clarks marsh. frost this morning.

16. On Sat I rakd hay on Clarks marsh & carted 2 lodes for him & brought
    home a turn. D Platts carted a turn for me. Jessy Platts rakd for me.

17. On Sun I went to meeting.Mr Smstext was in first John IV & 19. came home  & dind then went to the school house to society meeting.

18. On Mon I finishd carting Clarks hay & brought home a lode with 3 horses.

 19. On Tues I rakd my lot of hay & carted a lode. Andrew Hanns & J Platts s teams carted a turn for me. a shower at night.

20. On Wed I mowd at stoe creek to the shars.

21. On Thus I rakd some hay on J Platts s marsh the I had mowd to the shears & fetchd home a turn.

22. On Fri I finishd raking J Platts s lot & brought home a turn.

23. On Sat I went to bridge town & ingagd my claffor court then did some
    otions at home.

24. On Sun I went to Shilo to their yearly meeting. Mr Lafady preachd from  Job XXII & 2. then came home & dind then went to the court house whare Lafady preachd from Duteronomy XXXIII & 12 then came home & went to neighbor Barretts whare Lafady preachd from Ruth II & 16.

25. On Mon I went to stoe creek & rakd my hay & fetchd home a turn. Denis  Sheppard carted a lode for me.

26. On Tues I fixd for beating flac & beat a little. topd a little corn &   went to bridge town & took Phillop Sowder a calf that he is to give me  51/2 Dollars for. it is court time.

27. On Wed I went to the marsh & rakd some rads a long the bank & brought  home a lode.

* 28. On Thurs I went & took two of my cattle to the marsh & fetchd home a  turn of reeds & put on the colts hovel as I was going to the marsh
the horses ran away with my son in the waggon & turnd it bottom up ard & hurt him conciderable but the Lord preservd his life.  Brother Reuben Sheppard got home from the new country.

29. On Fri I carted 11 lodes of dung.

 

October th 1. On Sun I went to meeting. Mr Sms text was in st Peter I & 11. then we surrounded the table of our Lord then came home & dind then went to the school house to society meeting. last Fri evening I went to Beby run School house to meeting. one Mr Smith preachd form Colos I & 28. warm.

2. On Mon I carted 15 lodes of dung.

3. On Tues I carted 8 lodes of dung & went to the meeting house to choose
    trustees for the church.

4. On Wed I spred some flax & beat some & went to Ann Perrys Vendue who is going to the new country.

 

5. On Thurs I carted 5 lodes of dung & finishd beating flax. I had 79 lodes
    of dung.

6. On Fri I topd & stripd some corn & winerd a little flax ceed.

7. On Sat I winerd ceed & mowd about one acre of wheet & went & cilld two  Squrels.

8. On Sun I went to meetimg. one Mr Smith preachd from Revens VII & 17 then came home & dind & went to the school house to society meeting.

9. On Mon I topd & stripd some corn & went to bredge town & took 4 1/2

10. On Tues I went to fathers in the fore noon & cleand up some flax ceed in the after noon.

11. On Wed I carted wood for John Swiney.

12. On Thurs I went to daddys  to father in laws then workd at Charles a
    pare of new shoes.

13. On Fri I topd some corn & cleand some flax ceed.

14. On Sat I finishdclening my flax ceed & took 8 1/2 bushels to bridge
    town. I had 14 bushels & sold 13 bus for 1 1/2 cents pr bushel.

15. On Sun I went to meeting. Mr Sms txt was in the CXLII Psalm 2 vers. the the youth repeated the catecise. then cam home & dind & went to the
school house to society meeting.

16. On Mon I spred dung. Charles plowd,

17. On Tues I spred dung & mended one of my shoes. this is the first rain we have had since harvest to wet the ground. plow deep.

18. On Wed I spred dung & topd corn.
19. On Thurs I went to the marsh to work on the Dams but the watter was on the marsh so that we could not work & came to Bowentown to Olly Brooks s Vendue.

20. On Fri I sowd my wheet. I sowd 6 1/2 bushels then topd some corn.
    Charles harrowd in the wheet.

21. On Sat I topd corn in the fore noon & went to daddys & thrashd the buck  wheet that we raisd in John Swineys field. there was 3 1/2 bus.

22. On Sun I went to meeting. Mr Sms text was in st John VI & 66-67-68
    verses.

23. On Mon I topd corn & bound up some fodder.

24. On Tues I carted in some tops & finishd toping corn then huskd corn for  David Platts in the after noon.

25. On Wed I carted in the rest of my tops & thrashd some oats.

26. On Thurs I spred flax & put some wether boards on the house. frost & ice this morning.

27. On Fri I huskd corn for daddy. frost & ice this morn.

28. On Sat I made me a pare of thin shoes. it raind.

29. On Sun I went to meeting. Mr Sms text was in Heb XI & 16.

30. On Mon I went to the marsh to work on the dams but it came on to rain so we did not work then I workd at a pare of shoes for Amy.

 

November th 1. On Wed I getherd  corn at father in laws.

2. On Thurs I fixd up my waggon side & went to father in laws & got a lode of corn then went there to society  meeting Mr Davis preachd from Hebr XI & (blank)

3. On Fri I dug potatoes & went to Enos Bacons & got 25 Dollars for wood  that took to town for me.

4. On Sat I bound one of my thin shoes & went to daddys & paid the last
    years rent.

5. On Sun I went to meeting. Mr Steelings text was in the XCII Psalm & 5
    vers. after sermon we surronded the Lords table.

6. On Mon I went & workd for Edward Welch with the team & Charles.

7. On Tues I buryd some of my potatoes & went to bridge twon to Marsh
    meeting & was chosen clerk.

8. On Wed I went to bridge town & got my horse shod & got some fowls from  the widdow Swineys & pickd them in the evening.

9. On Thurs I started to Philladelphia about brake of da with father in law
    & got into the citty about 1/2 past 4 then went to the musiem.

10. On Fri I went in to Market & sold my fowls & came over & started home about 1/2 past 2 oclock & came to the pole tavern & put up for the
 night.

11. On Sat I came home at 10 oclock & then went to David Dares whare the  trustees met.

12. On Sun I went to meeting. Mr Sms text was in Phil I & 6.

13. On Mon I made out a duplicate & went to Roadstown & took it to David  Mulford who is the collector of Homes marsh tax.

14. On Tues I huskd some corn & carted in a lode.

15. On Wed I went to the marsh & workd on the wallin Dam.

16. On Thurs I huskd corn. daddy & J Bacon helpd me. we carted in one  lode.

17. On Fri I huskd & carted in 3 lodes of corn. D Platts helpd me.

18. On Sat I huskd & carted in one lode of corn.

19. On Sun I went to meeting. David Dares oldest son was buryed. then Mr Sm  preachd his funeral from 2nd S in XIV & 14.

20. On Mon I finishd husking corn. it came onto snow. I cutout some shoes.

21. On Tues I sarted & went to Mark Bowens. Edward & Polly went with us. it snowd all day. the snow 4 inches deep.

22. On Wed I went a dear hunting with Mark & others cilld none. we stade all night again.

23. On Thurs I went a Dear hunting again cilld none but started some both
    days. then camehome in the evening.

24. On Fri I soald a pare of shoes for Enos Terry & workd at a pare for
    Isaac. it snowd. it was about 8 or 10 inches deep.

25. On Sat I thrashd & cleand upsome oats & got a lode of wood.

26. On Sun I went to meeting. Mr Sms text was in Ezekiel XVIII & 31. the  snow melts.

27. On Mon I workd at shoe makeing & went to bridge town.

28. On Tues I workd at shos & cut some fire wood.

29. On Wed I workd at shoes making & went to court.

 

December, 1809

December th 1. On Fri I made my self a pare of lace boots. I onloded some
    corn the last of my crop. I had about 300 bushels of ears of corn.

2. On Sat I went to monthly meeting. Brother David Bateman preachd from 2nd  thes V& 25. then went to Harry Sheppeards & made out Duplicates for the  seats.

3. On Sun I went to meeting. D Swiney preachd from 1st Cor XV & 3. then Mr  Smalley administerd the Lords supper.

4. On Mon I went to bridge town & got some money that was oweing to me then made a betle. uncle J Bereman came here a visiting.

5. On Tues I went & helpd daddy cill a hog then split some fire wood. I
    wrote a letter in the evening to Brother Samuel.

6. On Wed I began to cut cord wood on my lot of wood land & went to the
    bridge & put my letter in the post to Samuel & got one for father from
    him.

7. On Thurs I went to daddys in the fore noon & cut some wood in the after noon & went to Mr Smalleys at evening to society meeting. Mr D Swiney  preachd from  (blank)

8. On Fri I went to Bucks Mill & got a grist ground then daddy & Enoch
    Fithian came here a bargining for he place.

9. On Sat I workd at a pare of Shoes for Joseph Bacon. daddy & E Fithian
    was here & closd the bargin for the place. he is to give 1350 Dollars.

10. On Sun I stade at home & cept the children in the fore noon & went to
    the court house in the after noon whare David Bateman preachd from
    Gen V & 24.

11. On Mon I dresd flax in the fore noon then went to bridgetown whare the  Dead for this place was Executed. Enoch Fithian gives 13-50 & uncle Joel Harris gives 90 for the marsh. then I went to John Reeves s.

12. On Tues I lade a florin of wheet to tred. Charles went at it & I dresd
 some flax & went to Caleb Barrots to society meeting at evening. Daniel  Swiney preachd from Ezekiel XXXIII & 11.

13. On Wed I rakd off the florin of wheet & cut cord wood.

14. On Thurs I cut cord wood. Mr & Mrs Smalley came here a visiting then  went to D Platts s to society meeting. D Swiney peachd from Exodus XXXII & 26.

15. On Fri I stade in the house till noon with Daniel Swiney then cut wood.

16. On Sat I dresd flax & workd at a pare of Shoes.

17. On Sun I went to meeting. Mr Sms text was in titus II & 14.

18. On Mon I thrashd wheet.

19. On Tues I helpd father in law cill 9 hoggs. John Davis preachd from 1st  Cor I & 23-24 at J Platts s.

20. On Wed I finishd thrashing wheet & went to bridge town & paid 4 D & 96 cents then cut cord wood.

21. On Thurs I cilld my cow (she weighd 311) & cut up the beef & got in the  last of my flax & went to daddys whare D Swiney preachd from titus III  & 45.

22. On Fri I cleand 20 bushels of wheet. I sold one of my cows to Enoch
    Fithian for 16 Dollars.

23. On Sat I sheld some corn & got some fire wood.

24. On Sun I went to meeting. Mr Sms text was in Luke X & 22.

25. On Mon I bafan to cart cord wood to bridge town from my lot.

26. On Tues I carted one lode of wood & chopd some.

27. On Wed I made Hosea a pair of Shoes & cut cord wood.

28. On Thurs I cut wood. D & R Sheppard helpd me.

29. On Fri I cut cord wood in the fore noon & carted a lode in PM.

30. On Sat I helpd Charles about treding out oats & hoopd a pail.
