GRIFFITH & BAUMAN, Manufacturers of Boots and Shoes, South High Strset [sic], near Corner Walnut Street—The individual members are E. S. Griffith and F. Baumann, both of whom are accomplished workmen of many years' experience. Mr. Griffith is a native of Pennsylvania, where he was born in 1846. Came to this State when thirteen years of age, and to this place first in 1867. In 1863 he enlisted (June 26th) as a member of company G, Eleventh O. V. I., in which he served three years and eighteen days, receiving his honorable discharge. Mr.

Baumann was born to this country in 1852. He learned his trade in the Union army in September 1864, as a member of company I, Twelfth regiment, W. V. I, serving to the close of the war. He came here in October, 1891, and soon after formed a partnership with Mr. Griffith, and they have since then occupied their present shop.
