Double Services
An elderly brother and sister died within hours
of each other here early this week.
Burton Arthur Vance, 80, Hillsboro, Rt. 2, died
at 5 P. M. Monday at Highland District Hospital and his sister, Mrs. Mary V.
Sanders, 87, 151 West South Street,
Hillsboro, died at her home at 7:30 A. M. Tuesday.
Vance was born near New Market May 8, 1888, the
son of David Ellison and Effie Wilkin Vance, and Mrs.
Sanders was born Oct 10, 1881.
Vance was a member of the Modern Woodmen Lodge
and the New Market Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Lottie
Sanders Vance; one daughter, Martha Fawley,
Hillsboro, Rt. 7; a sister, Mrs. Mabel V. Smith, Hillsboro, and two grandsons.
Mrs. Sanders was a member of the New Market
Baptist Church. Her husband Homer L.
Sanders died May 8, 1958.
In addition to her sister, Mrs. Mable V. Smith, she is survived by a daughter, Miss Helen
Sanders, Cincinnati.
Joint services will be held Friday, at 2 P. M.
at the Rhoads Funeral Home, Hillsboro, with burial at the New Market Baptist
Church Cemetery. Rev. Floyd Bogard will officiate.
Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday
from 2 to 4 P. M. and 7 to 9 P.M. The
family said that donations may be made to the Highland District Hospital.
