Ruth Ann Shoemaker, 70, of Hillsboro, died unexpectedly Sunday evening at the Clermont Mercy Hospital in Batavia.

She was born Aug. 22, 1937 in Springfield, the daughter of the late William Ted and Dienna M. Wolf Carter.

Mrs. Shoemaker had worked for several years for the Haines Town and Country Department Store and the Hillsboro Hallmark Store. She attended the Hillsboro First United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband [name omitted] whom she had married on July 18, 1956 in Richmond Ind., three daughters, [names omitted], nine grandchildren [names omitted], six great grandchildren, [names omitted]  three sisters, [names omitted] and four brothers [names omitted]

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Donal and Alan Carter. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. The Rev. Chuck Shonkwiler will officiate. Burial will follow in the New Market Baptist Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
