SECOND BATTALION CAVALRY (Sixty Days) Second Battalion Cavalry. - This battalion - so called on the books of the war department - was composed of two compa- nies, organized at separate times for temporary service, near the close of the national guard movement in 1864. Co. A, or- ganized in Highland county, was called out in the month of August to guard the state arsenal, and with Capt. Waddell com- manding, served out its term of 60 days in a manner highly sat- isfactory. At the expiration of their time the men were paid by the U. S. government, and relieved by Co. C, from the same battalion, under the command of Capt. Amen. After honorably serving out its term of enlistment this company, too, was mus- tered out and paid by the general government. The service of each company was limited to guard duty.
