I am trying to make a connection to my gggrandfather, Byron BALL. He was born in Ohio in 1852. He married Mary E. ALAXANDER in Yolo county, CA in 1882. Byron had 3 sons born in Woodland (Yolo County), one of which is my ggrandfather. On his marriage license, J.C Ball and his Wife were the witnesses. If you have any information on him or a connection the the families listed below, please let me know. I have found 3 prominant Ball families in the Yolo county in that time era and sure want to make the connection between them. They have a lot of things in common. The 3 families are: 1. Byron Ball, b1852, from Ohio. 2. Thomas D. Ball, b1826, from Ohio. 3. J.C Ball, b UNK yet had a grandson born in 1894. The following article is taken from a publication from the Yolo. Just so you know, Winters is located about 20 miles north of Woodland. ************************ This is taken from the History of Yolo County, published 1913, Biography section, page 877. Thomas D. Ball One of the earliest settlers of Winters was Mr. Ball, who contributed materially towards the development of this section, and whose death, February 27, 1902, deprived his fellow citizens of their most beloved friends and co-workers. Mr. Ball was born May 10, 1826, in Columbiana county, Ohio, in which locality he spent his youth, during the winter months attending district school and during the summer assisting on the farm of his parents, William and Rachel (BRADFIELD) Ball, natives of Virginia. The history of the Ball family has been traced back to the year 1381 in England. Early representatives who came to America settled in Massachusetss and some of them served in the Revolutionary war At the age of twenty-two, Thomas D Ball engaged in his trade of carpenter and joiner, his services being greatly in demand in Marietta and vacinity. Later he removed to Iowa, thence Springfield, Ill., still continuing at his trade, and in 1858 he came to California via the Isthmus of Panama, arriving in San Francisco after a journey of three weeks. Proceeding to Vacaville, Solano county, he resumed his trade and among other buildings erected Wolfskill residence on the banks of Putah creek, after the flood of 1862. While living in Vacaville he organized the Masonic lodge of that place. Afterwards he located in Sacramento, where he soon became well known as a successful builder, and sixteen years later he settled in Winters, where he purchased blocks two, three and foiur and erected a comfortable home, devoting much of his attention to the improvement of his property, which he beautified with many varieties of trees and shrubs. His first marriage occurred in Virginia and united him with Miss Polly HOAGLAND, who dies in Sacramento. His second marriage was solemnized in Sacramento, march 24, 1867, uniting him with Miss Elizabeth N. STAMPER, of Bath county, Ky., and the only child of their marriage, Mary Alice, died in infancy. Mrs. Ball is of Scitch ancestry and was not only closely related to the Neely family of Welsh descent, and the Ralstons of Scotch ancestry, but also to Martha Washington, of Virginia. Her great Uncle, John Neely, was on of the earliest settlers of Virginia and an Indian fighter. Her greatgrandfather, Joseph Neely, before the revolutionary war, with his wife and few neighbors defended a blockhouse in Kentucky from the onslaught of the Indians. Mr Ball was a stanch Republician, and by means of wide reading and active public labors, kept fully abrest of the times. Since the death of her husband Mrs. Ball has continued to reside in the home place in Winters, and as a conscientious and valued member of the Congregational Church has demonstrated her strengh of character and practical sympathy.

I have a photo which was taken in East Liverpool,Ohio c.1910. it belonged to my grandfather Laben Joseph KIRK. on the back, he had written "sister" and the names Emma, Freddie and what appears to be "shade" or "slade". this was a shock to us, since no one in the family had heard of her. Laben'S mother, Mary Isabelle MOWERY had been married before she married Laben'S father, George Thomas Kirk. this marriage to an unknown person would have taken place between 1886 and 1891. this Emma is a carbon copy of Mary Isabelle so we know it had to be a daughter from this first marriage. seeking help from anyone who may recognize these names.

Asdell (b 1798), George Asdell (b 1808) and George Azdell (b 1816) as well as a William Asdell (b1800-1810) and a Jane Asdell (b 1770-1780). The first 4 were on the 1830 census and William and Jane appear on 1840 then disappear from the records. I am attemptimg to track all of their descendents in the US, as well as tracking them back into a specific town in Ireland. Family legend has it that they hailed from County Antrim, which is possible since it was largely Presbyterian at that time, and it had the highest concentration of Asdell name variations (Esdell, Isdell, Easdale, etc.) in the mid 1800's, particularly in the northwest section of Antrim County. Anyone with any Asdell connections or info, please contact me.

I am trying to find my relatives of James Gilbert LONDON and his wife, Grace Ella McQuiston that had a son, John Charles LONDON born 8/13/1914 in Columbiana County, Salem, Ohio. I think James Gilbert LONDON came from Duncansville, PA and was the son of John LONDON and Sarah Elizabeth STEWARD who had 13 children.
