Here is the rededication program and a history of the burying ground.

Cuyahoga County Genealogy Society is celebrating "Family History Month" in October by conducting a walk through two Independence Cemeteries on Sunday, October 21. Mary Kay Wisnieski will be the guide. She is the author of Cemeteries of Independence Township. She will point out the graves of pioneers and call attention to unusual tombstones.
Join them at Hemlock Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. (Brecksville Road just north of LTV Steel -- look for the white picket fence). From there they will tour Maple Shade Cemetery at the corner of Brecksville & Rockside Roads. The walk will take approximately 1-1/2 hours. Rain date will be October 28.

The OCPS 2-day CEMETERY PRESERVATION WORKSHOP was a wonderful success! Jim and Minxie Fannin of Fannin-Lehner Preservation Consultants demonstrated the safe correct methods to clean and reset stones and do simple repairs. Our hard-working participants cleaned, reset and repaired 15 stones before the heavy rain concluded our efforts on Sunday afternoon.
The workshop was held in the Chester Township Cemetery on SR 306 (north of Sherman Road) in Geauga County.
