Catherine KHIEL was born in PA in 1784. She either married or had a child by Benjamin HUMMEL. She later married a BOWER or BAUER and was living in Crawford Co., OH, in 1835. I do not know her husband's first name. Catherine BOWER is supposed to have died 22 June 1852 and her death may have taken place in Crawford Co., OH, but it may have been elsewhere. Catherine's daughter, Keziah HUMMEL, married Daniel REESER and died in Cumberland Co., IL. Any help appreciated.
I am searching for information about my g-g-grandfather Samuel TARR born 1775 in Madison Township, Richland County and died after 1840 in Vernon Township, Crawford County, Ohio. He was a farmer and probably homesteaded property in Crawford County. He had two children. I believe his oldest son Joseph, my g-grandfather also had a farm in Vernon Township. Joseph married Catherine EAST in July 1817 and had eleven children including my grandfather John S.TARR who married Sophia KIMMELL in July 1863. John and Sophia had seven children. I am hoping that hoping that with all of these TARRs scattered in Crawford and Richland couties that someone might have information about their descendants. Any info will be greatly appreciated.
Am researching the surnames of HAALA, GABRIEL. My great, grandfather Anton HAALA, Sr. followed his children to Bucyrus, Ohio, in 1882 from Tuschkau, Bohemia. His son, Anton, Jr. married Lena GABRIEL in Bucyrus on October 12, 1887. I am looking for any links in their history. Lena's parents, were born in Austria about 1848. I'm uncertain when they came to this country. Their names were: Joseph GABRIEL and Mary BECHER. He had one sibling that I know of, Anthony. Seeking information about HOFFMAN, PAUL and SNYDER families of Crawford Co. My grmother, Barbara A. HOFFMAN, born 4-5-1885, Leesville, married William Walter WARNER 12-7-1902. She was daughter of George W. HOFFMAN, born 3-8- 1842, probably in Germany, died 11-22-1932 in Leesville. George was the son of a John HOFFMAN and Elizabeth SNYDER. I know nothing about the ancestry of either of them. George might have been brother to a William Peter HOFFMAN, died 7-15-1913 in Leesville. George HOFFMAN was married to Anna Elizabeth PAUL, born 1844, died 5-25-1907 in Leesville. I know nothing about her parentage. George and Elizabeth had eight children between 1864 and 1888, most of whom are buried in Leesville: John H., William J., Jacob, Rose, Kathryn, Barbara, George, and Harvey. George Jr. died in 1969. Any help would be much appreciated.

Co., IN, then Elkhart Co., IN. Married Mary Eva ZANZINGER Oct. 1858. Also, a brother George married Caroline EHNER in Oct. 1858. Third brother has not been located.

The family moved to Koscuisko Co., Ind. around 1849. The 1850 Ind. Census has John WINTERS, age 70, a shoemaker, living with them. William's father? Many families moved to Ind. Was this an "organized" move? Or was land just opening up?
