Cuyahoga Coroner Files

Coroner cases are inquests into violent or suspicious deaths or deaths from unknown causes. These files are currently housed at the Cuyahoga County Archives in Cleveland, Ohio, and are available there on microfilm as well as the originals. The listing on these pages has been constructed primarily from the films with some reference to the boxes. Adding and checking details is an ongoing process and includes checking newspapers and other records so check back once in a while if you find something here. If you get a copy of a case file or have additional information on any of these cases or incidents, please share the information on it with us at cuygen@comcast.net so we can add it to the site.
The index to the case files does not include 'Files Not Found', 'Files Noted as Missing', or unidentified individuals although all cases are listed on the case file pages in order to account for all case numbers and have places for any case discovered as further research is conducted. There is an additional box with some cases from 1905 and 1906 that we will be adding soon.
