About This Site



When we got this site in July of 2005 it had not been updated in any way since late 2003. The existing site consisted primarily of a handful of links [many of them dead or incorrect] and queries and surname listings. Many important resources were not linked including the USGenWeb Archives and alternative sites for Cuyahoga County genealogy.

There were also a number of pages in the web space that were not linked to the site and thus invisible to the researcher such as the 1896 histories of cities in Cuyahoga County. These were probably from the original site. It will take us a while but we are rebuilding the site, correcting bad links, adding new ones, restoring old pages and adding new material.

Who are we? We are Lorraine Newsome and Holly Timm. Lorraine lives in Cuyahoga County and, in spite of a full time job, squeezes in time for local genealogical activities. Her ancestors all immigrated to the Cuyahoga County area in the 1880's or later. Holly Timm lived in Cuyahoga County for 10 years until January 2004 when her husband was transferred to St. Augustine, Florida. Although she has no roots in Cuyahoga, her husband's ancestors all immigrated to Cleveland in the early 1880's. Until moving to Florida, Holly was also active in Cleveland area genealogy and computer groups and activities. As a team, Holly and Lorraine gave many programs to genealogy groups.

UPDATE: Further genealogical research shows that actually Holly did have family in Cleveland, the Fistler family from her mother's side, and the Estabrook family from her father's side, all in the Cleveland area the same time as her husband's family.

For a long time we have wanted this site but when our offers of assistance and information were refused, we created an independent site: Cuyahoga County Genealogy and History. That site has a great deal of data on it and will remain as those who have worked with us, contributing to that site, did so as an independent site not as a USGenWeb site. This site will have its own contributors and many links in depth to the data on the other site.
