Trying to find out relationship of Philena Hastings (who married my great-great grandfather Abel KIMBALL Sept.26,1830) to Russell HASTINGS who eventually became Rutherford Hayes Adjutant in the 23rd Ohio. The Kimballs were the second family to settle in Madison in 1812. Came from Ipswich, Mass. Hastings also from Mass. Since I have no documentation on the Hastings other than hearsay, would like to find some and perhaps info on how the families met.

I am searching for infromation on HULDAH (FLINT) EMERSON, Who married Daniel Emerson in 1824 in Danville, Shipton Twp,Qubect, Canada East. They moved to Canaan, Wayne Co., Ohio, in about 1836 and lived there until after 1880 according to the Ohio Census, Then in March of 1889 I find that Huldah Emerson (widow) sold some property in Canaan, Wayne Co., Ohio, and was living in Cedar Rapids, Linn Co., Iowa. Then in 1890 she sold some more property in Canaan, Wayne Co., Ohio, but was in Cuyahoga Co., Ohio. So now I need to find out when and where she died and is burried. Also where Daniel died and is buried. They had children living in Medina Co., Ohio and in Cedar Rapids, Linn Co., Iowa. Any information would be helpful. I was also told that the 1900 census for Ohio was destroyed by fire so what is a person to do.
