Welcome to the Cuyahoga West Chapter's Website!

The discovery and knowledge of the ancestors who helped make each of us unique individuals is an enriching experience.     Not only do we seek to know ourselves and to pass on our heritage to others, the solving of the puzzle itself is an exciting quest!    If you have a passion like we do for discovering your family roots, why not enjoy the fellowship of other researchers and join us at one of our meetings or Help Sessions. Our Motto & Purpose:  To Search, To Learn, To Teach, To Record

Everything in Red on this website is a link to click on.

We invite you to attend either our help sessions, where you can get one on one help from our volunteers, or our monthly meetings, where our speakers give helpful hints in genealogy researching. They are free to the public. Check the Meetings link above for dates and times.

A new page has been added to our website called Tracer Index (see link above).  That page has links to a list of all the Tracers from 1977 to the Present, links to all the names that have appeared in our Tracer publications (a continuing project) and scanned copies of all the Tracers from the beginning of our club to the present. You will need a password to see the scanned Tracers. This will be sent to all members in good standing with instructions on how to view the Tracers.

Check out the searchable index to our Maple Ridge Cemetery Book. You can order the book from the Publications Page. Click here to see index

Our History

Learning how to find their ancestors inspired a group from the northwest suburbs of Cleveland, Ohio to form the Cuyahoga West Genealogical Society in 1976.  On April 30th 1977, Cuyahoga West became the 29th charter as a member chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society and is proud to be part of the OGS success.  Today the group continues to welcome all interested in this fascinating pursuit of family history.

If interested in joining us at one of our Meetings or Help Sessions, see the tab above, email us -  or you may write to us at the following address:
