CEMETERY PROJECT

Co Chairs William Moore and Cecelia Brown ccbrowngenealogy@yahoo.com - There are two parts to this committee. The first part is to read all of the tombstone inscriptions in each cemetery in defiance County by township and put the information together in book form. The second part is to work with the Ohio Genealogical Society and record all of the cemeteries in Defiance County that are active, also record all of the lost and forgotten cemeteries. All of this information will placed in the Ohioana room at the Defiance Public Library. (This is an update of the last tombstone readings of 1978-1982). 1st part Defiance County Cemetery Updates and Corrections Chaired by William Moore to update and correct all Defiance County Cemeteries from the cemetery books that we published. The cemeteries were originally read in 1978-1981 and the committee is now updating all cemeteries. Some of the cemeteries were missed the first time around and they are collecting information on these cemeteries. Not all cemeteries will be updated because there has not been any burial s in some of them sense 1978-1981.  The 2nd part is to collect information on all cemeteries in Defiance County and report all lost and forgotten cemeteries. Document each and everyone of these cemeteries and to put all documentation into the Defiance Public Library Genealogy Department. This information may be published in the future.
