I was a Sherwood resident fom 1942 until 1960. Is the article (below) the Emma Rothar that taught at Sherwood-Deleware High School for years and years and lived across the street from the school? I am also interested in an incident in 1945 where a family of five died and are now buried in the Sherwood cemetery. Any information you could provide would be helpful.

Last Thursday morning, June 7, at 10:30 o'clock, Erma Marie ROTHHAR, daughter of Mr. and Mrs William ROTHHAR, became the bride of Clayton D. TOOLEY, son of Mr. and Mrs. William TOOLEY, Rawson, Ohio. The marriage was so emgized in the ROTHHAR country home north of town with Rev. Alfred GRETHER, pastor of the local Zion Reformed church, officiating, in the presence of the immediate families. The bride was attired in a white crepe ensemble with matching accessories.

Hi- let me give you more info on my great-grandparents- Thomas was born about 1832 in Maine and died 7 April, 1883 in Tiffin Twp, Defiance Co, Ohio. His parents were Lance ? Hyott and Pauline Sears. They were both born in Maine. Thomas Hyott married Catherine (Bauer) Diemer 22 Feb, 1870 in Defiance, Ohio. Catherine's parents were John Bauer (Bower) and Barbara Shama. They were both born in Germany in 1794. Catherine was married twice before. On 23 Sept, 1858 she married Mathias Diemer and had two sons. In 1866 she married George Neff and had one daughter. By Thomas Hyott they had seven children, including my grandmother Viola Ann Hyott. Viola was born in Tiffin Twp, Defiance Co, Ohio on 9 Dec, 1875 and died 15 Dec, 1957 in Toledo, Ohio. In 1904 she married Frederick Johnston. He was born 30 June, 1872 in Rushville, Illinois and died 20 May, 1939 in Toledo, Ohio His parents were Finley Johnston and Catherine Yates. Finley was born in 1834 in Tennessee and died in 1877 in Rushville, Illinois. Catherine was born 30 Oct, 1836 in N.C. and died 27 Aug, 1913 in Rushville, Illinois.

I would like to hear from anyone interested in the RAMUS family. Charles Ramus was first to immigrate from Baden to Ohio in 1848/9. He was followed by his father, Mathaus, brothers and sister in 1850. They farmed in Adams from the 1850s until 1900 and very probably many of the family were there after that. Charles married Elizabeth Josephine MEYERS in Defiance county though I haven't a clue of her parentage.

Seeking information about Carrie T. Huber from any Anthony Huber's descendents. Carrie T. was born in the Hicksville area, Defiance County, the daughter of Anthony and Franceska Huber. She married in 1892 to Harvey Coe, but was listed as being divorced by 1895-96. Who was Harvey Coe and what happened to him???

I'm trying to find a marriage/s record for Frank Spires born Aug 1879. He's listed in 1920 census with a Ruthann (hard to read) He's listed in 1930 census with a Mar G. (should be Mae G.) Children born starting abt 1914, which could make marriage date about 1912/13. I'm not sure if he married once or twice, but would like to have marriage dates.

I am looking for information on a sister of my great-grandfather, Kossuth Stites. Her name was Sarah E. (middle name possibly Ella) Stites, born abt. 1863 to Henry Netwon Stites and Rebecca Clark Stites. I believe she was born in Defiance, Ohio and was living with her parents there from 1860-1880. I believe she may have married and/or died in the Defiance area. Her mother and brothers, Milton, Empire and Kossuth Stites moved on to Grand Traverse County, Michigan. I am hoping to find anyone who might be related to Sarah who might be able to tell me what happened to her or anyone who might be willing to look for her in county/state records.

I am seeking information on John Ziegler (b.1865, Wurtemburg, Germany) and his siblings Christina Ziegler and Henry Ziegler. John emigrated to Defiance in 1888, married Luisa Sutter in 1895, farmed near Holgate, Henry Co and moved to Michigan in 1907. John Ziegler was my grandfather. My mother, Eleanor Ziegler Petty (b. 1919) is looking for descendants of Christina Ziegler (married Wesley Dirr) and of Henry Ziegler.

Someone has the same ancestores as i do. my great grandfather was john brubaker, born in 1826..chambersburg,pa. sometime between 1826 and 1836 the family moved to stark,co-oh. in 1836 a john and jacob brubaker built a hotel in stark,co. then at some time, the family relocated to delaware,twp, defiance,co-oh. would you know what the names of johns parents were? i have no clue. we also have margaret, william, ephriam, ellen, jacob.

Seeking information on my Great Grandmother who was Janette Davidson and married David Wesley Michael in Defiance Co., Hicksville, OH around 1867 or 1868.  I would like to know about her birth and who her parents were.  I believe her mother's first name was Elizabeth but have no idea what her maiden name was.  Elizabeth was born in Scotland as far as I know.  Any information on Janette or her mother would be appreciated including where and when either of them died.

I'm  looking  for a Robert Jones and wife Susanna.   She was a widow in 1880 census and dead herself in 1887 at Edon.    She is not buried there though and I feel that both may be near Defiance as they were there as early as 1855. Susanna was the sister of John Fetter, both formerly of Berkeley County, VA.   John is my 3rd great grandfather and was west in Dekalb County, IN earlier than 1838 when he died.

If you have any information on the Lloyds and where they were from previously, I would appreciate it.

In 1880 Census they were living with son in law, Clement Hulbert and daughter, Ellen Farnsworth Hulbert.

I am working on my family tree and have learned that my great grt. grandparents (Warren Edward & Catherine [Church] Hendershot are buried in Defiance.  THe information I have found says "Defiance Cemetery". I cannot find a Defiance Cemetery however.  As I live in Florida now, I have no way to physically check the cemeteries to see if I can locate them.  Any assistance in my quest would be greatly appreciated. Am doing research on Davis family.  Originated In Pa.  Census 1880 has Benj. living in Hicksville  Son Cyrus b1851 lived in Florida  Married Clara Frederick.  Had 4 sons  William A b 1886, Samuel b 1885 , Clarence b1891 and Lawrence b1897.  There may have been more.  If anyone is doing research on any of these names, I would appreciate any help I can get. William Allen was my grandfather.  Did Benj. have any brothers or any more children other than Cyrus?
