1. John and Barbara (Shuma) Bauer (Bowers) were both born in 1794 in Germany.
They crossed the ocean and and settled in Pennsyvania. They came to live near
Defiance, OH. Their children were:
2. Michael Bauer, born in Germany in 1825 and died on 19 April, 1869 in Defiance
Co. He married Mary Imber on 1 September, 1851 in Defiance Co., OH. Mary
was born in 1829 in Germany. According to the 1850 Defiance Co., OH Census,
Michael had real estate valued at $3000 and personal value was $450.
Their children were:

3. Susan Bowers was born in 1865. She married William Longsmith(1851-1920).

2. Balsey Bauer was born 13 May, 1827. He married Catherine Guid on 10 July,
1855 in Defiance Co., OH.
2. Christina Bauer was born on 13 May, 1828 and died on 22 April, 1914 in
Defiance Co. She is buried in Riverside Cemetery, Defiance, Ohio. She married
Andrew Sahokowitz on 10 July, 1855 in Defiance Co. Andrew Sahokowitz was
born on 24 Jan. 24, 1813 and died 24 January, 1908 in Defiance, OH.
2. Barbara Bauer was born in 1829. She married Henry Tuck on 10 July, 1854 in
Ohio.
2. Mary Ann Bauer, born 14 March, 1834 and died 8 November, 1903. Mary Ann
is buried next to her sister Christina Sahokowitz in Riverside Cemetery, Defiance,
OH. She married John Helifick(?) on 25 January, 1853 in Defiance Co, Ohio.
John was born 20 May, 1818 and died on 25 August, 1907.
2. And my great-grandmother Catherine. She was born in Pennsylvania in April 1839
and died on 22 June, 1918 in Defiance, Ohio. She is buried in the Riverside
Cemetery, Defiance, OH. She married three times.
Her 1st husband was-
Matthias Diemer- he was born in Germany about 1826 and died in Napoleon,
Ohio, July, 1866. He married Catherine on 25 September, 1858 in Defiance.
Ohio. Matthias Diemer and Andrew Bolley opened a general boat and feed store
in Florida, OH in 1847. They did a prosperous business for some years. In
1860 a brother Jacob retired and left the business and moved to Napoleon.
Matthias continued the business until 1866, then he sold to Lewis F. Richbolt
and also moved with his family to Napoleon, OH to live.
They had three children:
3. Franklin Diemer who was born in March, 1860 in Henry Co., OH. and died 17
October, 1923 in Defiance, OH. He is buried in Riverside Cemetery, Defiance,
OH. He married Matilda Watson. Matilda died on 7 March, 1925 in Defiance,
OH.
3. Julian (Bert) Matthias Diemer who was born on 5 January, 1865 in Florida,
Henry Co, Ohio and died on 14 April, 1949 in Defiance, Ohio. Bert married
on 2 September, 1901, Clara Krontz. Clara was born 17 November, 1876 and
died 31 May, 1969 in Defiance, OH. Both are buried in Riverside Cemetery,
Defiance, OH.
Their children were:
4. Nellie K. Diemer- she was born in Defiance on 11 April, 1902 and died in
Toledo, OH on 24 May, 2003. She married Rollie (Kissey) Kisseberth in
1923. They had three daughters. Donna, Rita and Nancy.
3. John M. Diemer who died in infancy in Florida, OH in 1859.
2nd husband-
George Neff- he was born in France on 14 April, 1838 and died on 19 Aug,
1921 in McBride,Michigan. They were married on 28 Febuary, 1866. Catherine
soon learned that George was married to someone else, too. They were soon
divorced. Their only child was:
3. Mary Josephine Neff was born on 5 Feburary, 1867 in Brunnersburg, OH
and died 4 December, 1932 in Tiffin Twp., Defiance, OH. She married
William S. Cooley on 1 January, 1886 in Brunnersburg, OH. Willam S. was
born on 13 December, 1865 and died 10 May, 1933. They had 14 children.
3rd husband-
Thomas Hyott- was born about 1832 and died on 7 April, 1883 in Tiffin Twp.,
Defiance Co., Ohio and is buried in Bucks Cemetery, Williams Co., Ohio.
According to the 1850 Frenchtown Twp., Monroe Co., MI Census, Thomas
and his brother Joseph are living with the Richard Nadeau family. Census says
that they both were born in Canada. Joseph Hyott was born 10 Febuary, 1826
died on 26 December, 1910 in Michigan's Soldiers Home in Grand Rapids.
Their parents were Elias Hyott and Pauline Sears. Thomas married Catherine
Deimer on 22 Febuary, 1870 in St. John's Catholic Church Defiance, OH.
Thomas bought 80 acres of land in Section 5, Tiffin Twp, Defiance Co., close
to the Williams Co. OH line.
Their children were:
3. Virginia Pauline Hyott, was born on 19 September, 1872 in Brunnersburg,
OH and died on 19 Febuary, 1956 in Mansfield, OH. Virginia was buried in
Mansfield Catholic Cemetery. She married Frank Feigenbaum on 23 Dec.,
1902 in Defiance, OH.
3. Ezra J.Hyott, was born about 1873 in Tiffin Twp., Defiance Co., OH and
died 7 February, 1930 in Little Rock, AK. Ezra never married.
3. Lovinia Hyott was born on 11 January, 1874 in Evansport, OH and died on
22 October, 1904 in Defiance, OH. She married John Warneke in 1899.
3. Viola Ann Hyott was born on 9 December, 1875 in Tiffin Twp, Defiance
Co., OH and died on 15 December, 1957 in Toledo, OH. According to Bert
Diemer's daughter, Nellie Kisseberth, Viola (Vol) was a good sewer and made
Nellie's childrens clothes. She also said that Vol moved to Illinois to work
and met her future husband there. Vol told Nellie that she was always telling
people when writing her name, to make sure they put the "t" in Johnston.
Viola is buried in Calvary Cemetery in Toledo, OH. She married Fred
Johnston about 1904. Fred was a weaver, lumberman and a carpenter. I
cannot find a marriage date or place for my grandparents. Frederick was born
on 30 June, 1872 in Rushville, IL and died on 20 May, 1939 in Toledo, OH.
Fred is buried in Forrest Cemetery, Toledo, OH.
Their children were:
4. Two twin girls were born and died in 1906. According to a newspaper
article in a newspaper the Rushville Times.
4. Delmas ( Fritz) Johnston was born on 14 May, 1906 in Rushville, IL and
died in November, 1978 in Toledo, OH. He married Audrey ?.
4. Thomas Louis Johnston was born on 12 March, 1913 in Defiance, OH
and died 24 December, 1981 in Maumee, OH. He was buried in
Memorial Gardens,Waterville, OH. My dad married my mother, Pauline
LaVonne Allison, on 23 July, 1940 in Wauseon, OH. My mother was
born 13 April, 1923 in Lambertville, Michigan. My dad was a butcher
and worked for A & P Food Stores. He was also a carpenter and finally
ran his own carry-out on Hawley and Western Ave. in Toledo, OH for 25
years. He retired in 1975 and moved to Grand Rapids, OH.
4. Finley Johnston was born 4 December, 1915 and died on 1 July, 1972 in
Toledo, OH. He married Lynett (Bebe) Carrick.
3. Thomas R. Hyott was born 30 March, 1878 and died on 2 April, 1878 in
Tiffin Twp., Defiance, Co., OH. Thomas R. is buried in Bucks Cemetery,
Williams Co., OH, next to his father.
3. Dennis and Martin Hyott died at birth in Tiffin Twp., Defiance Co., OH.
Both boys are buried next to their father and brother in Bucks Cemetery,
Williams Co., OH. The three boys' grave stones are missing from their
original location.

FRANK DIEMER DIES AFTER ILL 3 WEEKS

Acute Quinsy Attack Leads To Fatality- Fureral Service Saturday

Frank Diemer died at 2:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon at his home
at 1034 Harrison Avenue after three weeks illness, death being due to
cellulitis. The disease started with quinsy, the condition of the throat
becoming acute and later bursting. Mr. Diemer was 63 years and 7
months.
Funeral services will be held at his late home, 1034 Harrison Ave., at
2 o'clock Saturday afternoon. Rev. John W. Ayers of the First Baptist
Church, will officiate.
Besides his wife the decedent leaves a son, Harry Diemer and four
step-children: Clarence and Howard Watson, Pearl Watson and Mrs.
Matilda Cooper, all of Defiance.
A brother and three sisters survive: J. M. Diemer, Defiance; Mrs. Mary
Cooley, Evansport; and Mrs. Virginia Feigenbaum, and Mrs. Viola
Johnston, Defiance.

FRANK DIEMER
Funeral services for Frank Diemer who died last Wednesday after-
noon were held Saturday at 2 o'clock, from 1034 Harrison Avenue with
Rev. John W. Ayers of the First Baptist Church officiating. Burial was
made in Riverside Cemetery.
Pall-bearers were William Saeger, Frank Myers, Fred Schatz, Otto Hall,
Frank Schatz and William Hubbard.
Flower-bearers were Mrs. H. G. Gerken, Mrs. Harmon Miller, Mrs.
Fred Schatz, Mrs. John Steffel, Mrs. Jacob Garver, Mrs. R. H. Watson,
Mrs. Lewis Schmunk and Mrs. Louis Schultz.

JULIAN (BERT) DIEMER
Services for Julian (Bert) M. Diemer, charter member of the Star
Hose Co., Defiance fire department were held Saturday at 2 pm in the
Mansfield funeral home. Rev. C. F. Blue, Gospel Temple minister,
officiated and burial was in Riverside.
Mrs. Nelson McMillen sang with Mrs. Marjorie Sisco at the organ.
Members of the Defiance Volunteer Fireman's Association were pall-
bearers: Harvey C. Hughes, Raymond Schultz. Sylvester Moser, Ray
Synder, Adolph Birchmier and Albert Memmer.
Defiance Eagles also conducted rites at the funeral home.
The casket, pallbearers and flowers were taken to the cemetery on a
fire truck.

MRS. JOHN WARNEKE IS CALLED BY DEATH--

Mrs. Lovina Warneke, nee Hyatt, wife of John Warneke, of Franklin Street,
East Defiance, died Saturday night at 8 o'clock, aged 30 years.
The deceased was born at Evansport, January 11, 1874, and came to
Defiance about 11 years ago. She was married to Mr. Warneke five years ago,
and leaves, besides her husband, two sons, one aged three years and the other
a baby born last Tuesday. She leaves a mother, two sisters, Mrs. Frank
Feigenbaum and Mrs. Fred Johnson; one brother, Ezra Hyatt; a half sister,
Mrs. William Cooley of Evansport, and two half brothers, Bert and Frank
Diemer. The funeral will occur Wednesday morning from St. Mary's Catholic
Church, Rev. Father Doherty conducting the services. Interment will be made in
Riverside Cemetery.

OBITUARY
William S. Cooley was the son of Andrew and Ann McCafberty Cooley. He was
born in Williams County, Dec. 13, 1865. On Jan. 1, 1886 he was united in
marriage with Mary J. Neff at Brunnersburg, Ohio. He spent his entire life in Williams
and Defiance Counties. To this union were born fourteen children, six preceding him in
death, four children in their infancy, two sons gave their life in the World War were
Roy Cooley, born Oct., 20, 1899 and died January 29, 1918 at the age of 18 years, 3
months, 27 days and Sergt. Clarence Cooley, born December 18, 1897 and died
October 1, 1918 in action in France at the age of 20 years, 9 months, 13 days, a member
of Co. F, 49th, U.S. Infantry. His beloved wife preceded him in death on the 4th day of December, 1932.
He leaves to mourn his departure eight children, Pearl Thiel, Earl and Andrew Cooley
of Bryan, Victor and Willard Cooley of Ney, Ohio, Blanche Stitsel and Mary Hardy of
Defiance, William Cooley of Evansport, O., one brother Oliver Cooley of Bryan?, O.,
one sister Sarah Garber of Toledo, O., ten grandchildren, and a host of relatives and
friends. After a brief illness of five days he passes away at his home west of Evansport,
Ohio, on the 10th day of May, 1933 at the age of 67 years, 4 months and 27 days.
