DEFIANCE COUNTY HISTORY 1883
This is not an "all name" index, but only indexes the main person each individual biography talks about. From the organization of Williams County in 1820, present day Defiance County was part of "old" Williams County, until 1845. In 1845, Defiance broke off from Williams County. However, over the years many families moved back and forth between the two counties. Therefore, many family ties exist between the two counties, even to the present day.
