(Scan below for list)
If your family line is in Defiance County, we suggest you purchase an appropriate Defiance County publication. A list of Publications may be found here.
In an effort to help others with their Family Histories, we hope to offer points of contact that can aid you in looking up pieces of information that might not be available to you locally. This list includes names of those important volunteers and the information to which they have access.
Please be specific about your requests. Put "Defiance Co. Lookups" in the subject line. Be sensitive to the fact that there may be copyright issues involved. Please limit your requests to specific individuals, time frames and content.
Always take the time to thank those who help you! And you must pay for copies and costs incurred in mailings.
If you might be able to help others by providing look-ups, Please contact Mike Sandridge at genealogylookup@excite.com

| I have access to Allen Co. Public Library in Fort
Wayne,IN. I'm willing to census request lookups for 1790-1920. "The
only thing that would cost would be if you want a copy of the census sent in
the mail. That would cost a dollar per page. If you just want to know the
names through email it's free."

I'm in possession of a book of limericks/poems writing by cousins/sisters/friends of Amanda Belle Goff (Schooley) - my gg grandmother. Most of these the entries were between 1884-1890, and most of the persons were from Defiance county. The surnames of the persons who wrote these 'diddies' to my gg grandmother are - Schooley, Warner, Wentworth, Coward, Dunlap, Lybarger, Dixson, Wish, Ogilivie, McCartney, Leynde, Goff, Harris, Keener, McCormick, Elliot, Williams, Strong, Aston, Clark, and Erter. I have done my best to read the handwriting and some of the above names are guesses, so it is possible that I have not read the writing correctly. There are over 50 entries from locals of Defiance and surrounding counties to Amanda. If you have any of these names in your research, and you are interested in having me look up poems authored by individuals which are connected to these names. I'm happy to do so.

| Please visit my website dedicated to those Americans who were imprisoned and died in captivity while in the service to our country There are 2 online databases to do lookups.....One by name...one by Company and Regiment. I also have a copy of the Dorence Atwater Death list which has the names and grave numbers of 12960 graves with only 460 marked as " UNKNOWN " This along with a CD I have which contains 34,000 names of the 45,000 who were imprisoned there which helps me find prisoner records because of misspellings of the names or alternate names. I visit the prison site every couple of weeks and have access to the onsite databases as well as the physical files. I would like to let you know of another service I offer which is to take photos of graves for a small fee. Please do not concider this spam as my research offer is FREE for the asking ad will be posted on this county site only once. If there is anything I can do in helping your research at Andersonville, please just ask. - Kevin Frye
