Undertaker McKean

McKean was born on November 27, 1839 in Millersburg, Ohio. When he was six the family moved to Leeseville, Ohio where he eventually learned the undertaking business. On January 10, 1865 he married Ann Mary George. Their children were Leighton, Frank, Harry, Bertie M. (McKean) Norwood, and Hattie (McKean) Hempy.

In April, 1867 he worked as a cabinet maker in Kenton, OH thereafter moving to Forest and again taking up undertaking he eventually operated a furniture store and undertaking business which he operated for over 50 years. A member of the Methodist Episcopal church and the I.O.O.F. Lodge, he died shortly after dinner on Saturday, February 24, 1911 in his home in Forest.

He had lived in Forest for more than 40 years and was had officiated at hundreds of funerals in Hardin Co. His death was due to a series of illnesses he had all his life and which culminated over his last three years.
