afer Family.

George "Whitey" Hafer (b. 18 Feb 1887, Hardin Co., OH) is seen in this photograph painting the outside of his barber shop, which was on the north side of W. Lima street where the current post office is located.

Whitey Hafer

In 1910 he was boarding on Gormley street with Mary J. Scott and her son Charles Scott. Mary had a niece, Alice H. Spitzer.

George registered, at age 30, for military service during World War I. He again registered, at age 55, for military service for World War II. He stated at the time that he had no middle name. Clara Hafer was listed as always knowing his address. At that time he listed himself as a self-employed barber. At one time Lulu Jacquith had a Variety Store at the same location. The shop was later owned by barber George Buxton.
