SPORT SNAP SHOTS
BY JACK KEENE
The captain of Cincinnati University’s basketball team and one of the most popular lads in that institution is Carson Hoy. It is third year on the basket ball varsity team and he has starred for two seasons on the baseball squad and last year was a member of the varsity line. Now, the point of interest is that Carson is the son of William E. 'Dummy' Hoy, old time star of the Cincinnati Reds. Under Buck Ewing’s management Hoy was rated on of the greatest stars of his day and still ranks as one of the old time immortals. The handicap he suffered in hearing and talking earned him his title but it was tacked onto him in a spirit of affection alone. The elder Hoy bought himself a farm in Mount Healthy, Ohio, when he quit the game and the younger Hoy gained his splendid physique doing the chores about the farm before he went to collete.2
