Lena Hinebaugh

Lena was born around 1892. Her parents were Daniel and Clara. Daniel was born in November of 1866, Clara in June of 1867. Lena had an older sister, Nellie, who was born in September, 1886. She also had a brother, Showe R., born December 20, 1893. They were all born in Ohio. William Pfeiffer boarded with them in 1900.

Lena’s parents were farmers in Jackson Township, Hardin Co. Mr. Pfeiffer worked as a laborer on their farm. Their farm was next to the John Herzog farm. John’s son, Bert, was the individual who eventually owned and operated the Herzog Lime & Stone Co. just south of Forest. By 1910 the family had moved into Forest, Nellie was a local school teacher, and Daniel worked as a "hay bailer."

There was an individual named, Showe Hinebaugh, who died 24 Nov 1915 in Hardin Co.1 It is not known if this individual was related to this family. Showe R. Hinebaugh was born in Dunkirk, registered for the draft in Forest in June of 1917, but worked for the Island Slag Co. in Buffalo, N.Y. in 1917. If he is not the brother of Lena, he may have been a cousin. He survived WWI and lived with Helen & John C. Addis in Youngstown, OH. On the 1920 census he is listed as the brother-in-law who was a "slag" salesman.
