Sarah (McCleary) Dean was 94 when she died in Forest. At the time of her death she was one of the oldest members of the community. She died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Alice (Dean) Willey of near Forest. She came to Forest in 1846 after her birth in Chambersburg, PA on June 25, 1845.
Her parents were Nathan and Susanne (Bear) McCleary.
She had two marriages; Morris Owen and Hamilton Dean. Her first husband, Morris, died in 1879 followed by Hamilton on November 22, 1915 when he drowned himself in the lake at Gormley Park. He was found after several hours and later it was determined that he had been told by his physician that he was afflicted with creeping paralysis so he walked across the street to the lake and drowned himself. Hamilton was 70 at the time of his death.
