.A. Burdett.
Contract between the Board of Education of Jackson Township and Teacher. Office of Board of Education Jackson Township, Hardin County, Ohio, Patterson, O., Sept 8 1909. It is hereby agreed between the Board of Education of Jackson Township and W.A. Burdett a legally qualified teacher in Hardin County, that the said W.A. Burdett is to teach a common school of Jackson Township, in Sub District No. Four for a term of 32 weeks, for the sum of Forty six and 75/100 Dollars, per day [lined out], or month, said term to commence on the 13 day of Sept 1909. And for such services properly rendered, the said Board of Education is to pay the said W.A. Burdett the amount that may be due according to this contract. October 29, 1890. S.M. was in Patterson on Wednesdays and Saturdays to sell meat between 9 a.m. and noon at the Thomas Fisher room. The Thomas Fisher room may have been a grocery or a meat market.
Samuel was a butcher who lived in Vanlue with his family and traveled by wagon to Forest and Patterson to sell his wares.
One of Samuel’s sons, P.D. Lehman, operated the Corner Store in Forest from 1904 until he died in 1933. It was a member of the I.G.A. stores.

.W. Vermillion.
J.W. Vermillion ran a blacksmith shop in Patterson in 1891. He ran an advertisement1 in the Forest Review for a full set of new shoes for $1. The shoes were probably for horses.
