Does anyone have any information about Mary Elizabeth DENIG, b. 8 July 1866, d. 13 Oct 1921 in Columbus OH? She married Albert LEACH on 30 Jul 1887 in Franklin Co. OH. I have searched the census records, including a line-by-line search of the 1870 and 1880 census records for Franklin County (including Columbus), and the only match I found was a "Lizzie DENIG", age 3, living with Elizabeth and Mary ROMER (ages 33 and 18 respectively). The occupation listed for the older women was "Prostitute". I was unable to find any of these women in the 1880 census, and I don't know whether or not "Lizzie DENIG" is my "Mary Elizabeth DENIG", but she is the only age-match that I have found. Her death certificate lists her father as "DENING" and her mother as "unknown". Mary Elizabeth is called "Lizzie Denig" on the birth record of at least one of her children. Is there anyone out there who has any idea as to how I can get any further with this line? Any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated.

I am trying to gather some information about the family of Charles James ORT. He was born 21 Mar 1864 in Maysville, Mason Co., Kentucky and married Clara M. WEISZ (b. abt. 1873) about 1888. The 1920 census lists Charles and Clara living at 659 Ohio Ave. in Columbus, Franklin Co., Ohio. Based on hearsay, Charles worked in the dairy business. I have no information about his wife. They had four daughters. Elizabeth Mary ORT, b. abt 1895, Columbus, Franklin Co., Oh. Elizabeth Mary joined a sisterhood and became Sister Johanna at a convent in Buffalo, New York. Sister Johanna made her religious profession in 1917. During her first sixteen years of her religious life she taught in Buffalo, N.Y., Denver, Co., Charleston, W.V., and Sacramento, Ca. In 1930 she took up nursing. She served the Columbus Diocese for over 20 years, caring for the sick at Columbus's St. Ann's Hospital and serving as infirmarian at St. Aloysius Orphanage in Columbus. She also served at St. Agnes in Atlantic Highlands, N..J. for nine years. She died 10 Nov 1978 after a long illness and is buried at Stella Niagara in Buffalo, N.Y. Louis M. ORT, b. abt. 1897, was a U.S. Army nurse who lived for a while in Florida and later moved to Colorado to help her recover from tuberculosis. I believe Louise married Clarence TERRILL. Clara Josephine ORT, b. 6 Mar 1899 in Columbus, Franklin Co., Oh. I think Clara was married twice. The first time to a man named Dick JUDD. They had one son and lived out west. Her second husband may have been named Norman. The fourth daughter was Florence E. ORT. Florence was born about 1907 and may have married a man named Lee DAMERON. I am interested in any information regarding this ORT family and any of the spouses.

I am seeking information about George and his family. I believe he was married twice. His first marriage, about 1886 I think, was to a woman who I know only by what appears to be a nickname, "Pet." I would like any information available about "Pet" and her family. I think "Pet" and George had a son Leo ORT, b. about 1888, probably in Franklin Co., Ohio. If anyone knows of Leo, I would love to hear from you. George's second marriage I think was to Mary "Mamie" KEEFE. I do not know anything about Mary or her family. I believe George and Mary had a son John Paul ORT. If there is any information out there regarding George ORT, his two wives, or his sons, I would love to hear from you.
