I am looking for any information on a Hosea W. BRITTON and his wife Rachel (TAYLOR) Britton that had settled in Franklin County, Ohio about 1820. One of there son's (Samuel Taylor Britton) is my great great grandfather. I have found that the couple were married in 1800 in Monongalia, Virginia (now West Virginia), but moved with their children to Ohio in 1820. Samuel Taylor Britton was born in Norwich Twp, Franklin County. The Brittons owned property and most of the family is buried in Wesley Chapel Cemetery in Hilliard, Ohio. As of this date, I have not found any further information on this couple. Hosea's brother Rev. Benjamin Britton came along with them and raised a family of his own. The Brittons were charter members of the United Methodist Church in Hilliard, Ohio. The britton farmland is now housing developments. If anyone has any information on the Britton Family from Hilliard, Ohio, Please email me at redhole@aol.com.

Date posted: Wednesday, October 29, 1997

Looking for my ggrandmother Mary or Margaret RHOADS. She was the wife of William L. Rhoads who died in Gallia County in 1880. She was the mother of Walter S. RHOADS (my Grandfather) and Simeon A. RHOADS. Walter married my grandmother in 1897 and resided in Madison County in 1900 Census. He went to Rock Island, Ill to work on the railroad and died there in 1908. His body was supposedly returned to Delaware, Ohio for burial. I can find no trace of his burial. Simeon volunteered for the Spanish-American War and after returning the next info I have on him is 1918, when he became eligible for a small inheritance. His address at that time was 82 S. 4th St, Columbus, Ohio. On 1920 Census I was unable to find either him or the address he had on the inheritance papers. A cousin remembers him as being around in 1925-1930. he was born in 1879. Mary was born in 1850. Is there anyone out there that can help with this puzzle. Thank you.
