I'm trying to help a friend locate a Virginia SMITH who lived at 72 1/2 East Main, Columbus in 1956. She was approximately 23 years old at the time so would now be about 65 years old. It is very possible she has married and no longer goes by SMITH. There were a James C. and Pauline BROWN listed at this address in the 1956 city directory. James was a salesman for Tanner Shoe Company. If any of this sounds familiar to any of you, please e-mail me. Thanks!

Here goes again - I have made several attempts now to send this request for help or information but first sent it to the wrong address, then in the wrong format and then, apparently to the wrong addess again - so I am hoping that I will be lucky this time.

I am looking for information on the family of my father's cousin, he very much wanted me to trce them for him as he lost touch some years ago. I should explain that I live in Sussex, england and my father was Welsh, from Cardiff. His cousins family consisted of Frank FREECE, his wife, Ethel FREECE nee EVANS and their daughter Eileen FREECE.

I don't have much info but accroding to my grandmother's diary the family emigrated from Wales in October 1920 and settled in Baltimore, Ohio - I have three photos that give Baltimore as place of residence - the diary also says that Frank FREECE died June 30th 1951 but I have not found anything for him in the Social Security Death Index. There is an antry for an Ethel FREECE which seems to fit:
SSN (Social Security No) 290-48-7334:
SNDX F620
NAME FREECE, ETHEL
BIRTH 03-06-1899;
IS (Issuing State OHIO
DEATH 01-00-1981;
R-ZIP(Zip code of last known Residence) 43105
P-ZIP blank
RC (State of primary residence) OH

My father told me that Frank FREECE was a sherrif and was involved in the capture of Public Eneny No 1 9I preseume there were several of these but I think he meant Derringer?) and he also said that he was one of the first people in the States to have plastic surgery but I don';t know how much truth there is to either of these stories or whether my father knew this from personal contact or got it from other family members.

Anyway, i would be really grateful for any help anyone over there can give. My husband and I have visisted the states several times in the past and have been to Columbus, Ohio three times but always on very short visits and have been unable to travel up to the Baltimore area - we bith really love the U.S.A. and have met some really lovely, friendly people there.

Thanks for your time

Yours

Helen McDiarmid

Salina (also spelled Celina) was born in St. Hyacinth, Quebec, July, 1836, and her last name was MARION. Her family came to the U.S. in 1842. I know they were living in Columbus, Ohio when their daughter Frances was born on 1/16/1857. By 1867 Salina was living in Waterford, NY and was married to a Victor CHAPUT. I am currently researching the name ELLIOTT and am looking for information on Robert Elliott ( wife Susanna BRUNK, daughter of Daniel Brunk) and David Elliott, child of Robert and Susanna. Robert claimed land in Franklin County( around 1800) from a Virginia Military Land Grant which had been given to his father, James Elliott from Cumberland(Perry) County, PA. I am trying to find out which James Elliott of Cumberland County, PA. was the father of Robert Elloitt of Franklin County, OH. My descent from Robert is thus: Robert Elliott to David Elliott to Mary Elliott BELL to David Elliott Bell to Dorothy Bell SPEIDEL to myself.

FRAZELL, J.P., JR. - Franklin County records show the death of a J.P. FRAZELL Jr. at the age of 40 in 1877, single and born in Licking County, Ohio. My family are descendants of Jason Parmenter FRAZELL, married to Catherine BARLER of Licking County who died at child birth. He later married Margaret ALDER of Madison County. Until now, no record of a J.P. FRAZELL Jr. had been found. Jason Parmenter FRAZELL family members have been known to have lived in Franklin, Licking and Madison Counties. Who were J.P. FRAZELL, Jr's parents? Listed as single, was he ever married? Any information will be appreciated.
