I would like to submit what information I have on my ancestor:

John H. Smith b.1742 in New Jersey. He died 24/5/1814 in Plain Twp. He married Sarah Snyder b. 1745 in New Jersey both are buried in the "Old Smith Burying Ground" now known as Burnside Cemetery in Plain, Franklin Co., as well as many of their offspring's John served in the 1st. Cont. Line in New Jersey. It is not known exactly when he came to Franklin Co., but since he died there in 1814, it would seem before that date. He donated the land for the Smith Burying Ground. His son Jacob b.13/7/1776, in N.J., was the first to teach school in Plain. His other son Henry b.4/11/1772, in N.J., built the first brick house in Plain, he was married to Anna Fransisco/Francisco b. abt. 1794 in N.J.. They too are buried a "the Old Smith Burying Ground", Plain Twp., Franklin Co. Ohio.
