My name is Maggie Stewart, and I will be your host while you are here! I hope to make your visit a
pleasurable one. I will try my best to make this an informative and useful site, and hope that you will return often.
Within this website are many pages of information created/submitted by dedicated volunteers providing
free Franklin County Ohio genealogy resources. I hope you will enjoy your time here researching your Ohio ancestors.
Franklin County, named in honor of Benjamin Franklin is located in the center of the state around the city of Columbus. It is bounded by: Delaware County County to the North; Fairfield County to the South East; Licking County to the North East; Madison County to the South West; Pickaway County to the South; Union County to the North West.
This is an ongoing collective project. Please feel free to make helpful suggestions for improvements to the site and to offer assistance. Thank you for visiting. Check back often! (This page was last updated Friday, 22-Oct-2010 19:28:42 MDT.)
Columbus is the capital of Ohio and also the county seat of Franklin County. Most of the area's social and civil life is associated with governmental operations. Over 55 organizations conduct scientific research in industry and business in the city.
The Ohio State University, established in 1873 is located in Columbus. The present capitol building, one of the best examples of Greek Doric architecture in the country, was completed in 1861. Although industry plays a part in the city's growth today, government is the reason for its existence.
