Seeking information on my ggg-grandfather, THOMAS SMITH, b. Nov. 26, 1799, in Washington Co. OH. He died June 15, 1869. He married (date?) Susannah Linn, b. Dec. 20, 1802, d. Mar. 20, 1870. Their son, William, is my line. William's birthdate is Oct. 31, 1826, died Jan. 13, 1912. On June 28, 1847, he married Mary Wells, b. Aug. 23, 1828; d. Dec. 15, 1909. If possible, I would like to know Thomas Smith's parents' names, Susannah Linn's parents, and Mary Wells.
Thanks, shirleyt@dnet.net

I pulled the death certificates on William and Mary Smith. I hope you
don't already have them. I was using your request from Feb 4 requesting that
information. If you want the copies send a self addressed stamped envelope to 650 N. Drexel Ave., Columbus, Ohio 43219.
William Smith DOD 1/13/1912 is listed as single. This could be because his
wife died before he did. His POB is listed as Ohio. He was an assembler. He
died on Pulmonary Tuberculosis in Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio. Parents say
don't know for both. Information was from Richard Saherpf of the St. El
Hospital. He is buried in Woodland Cemetery.
Mary Smith DOD 12/16/1909 is listed as married. She died in Chardon,
Geauga County. Her DOB is 5/28/1839 in Munson, Geauga County, Ohio. Parents:
Henry Smith (born York state) and Lucy McBride (born York state). Informant
was Addison Smith of Chardon Ohio and she is listed as buried in Chardon Ohio.
She died of aortic insufficiency. I don't know if this is the right one but it
was the only one close to the date you gave me.
I also have the death certificate for Joy Maxine Conerly but she died in
Portage County not Summit as she was at the Eippert's Home for Invalids. It
does note her address in Akron. Parents were: Henry Marvin Conerly (born
Gainesville Florida) and Alice Rehberg (born Arcadia Florida). I don't want to
put anything else up on the forum due to the rights to privacy.

Virginia and moved to Morrow County ,Ohio in 1831 with his wife Abigail BENNETT and their family. He raised 11 children there before his death sometime in the 1840's. Some researchers who I am in contact with suggested to me that he may have actually lived in KNOX County before part of it became Morrow Cty. I have traced quite a few of his ancestors and descendants but find it impossible to locate his grave or anything about him during his almost 20 years in Ohio. Could you please help me with the name EZRA BUXTON, born about 1815 in Virginia or Penn. Married Charlotte SHANNON(?), born abt. 1825. They had their first son (my GGGrandfather) Samuel BUXTON in June, 1851 in Penn. They moved to Ohio by 1852-1853. They had eight more children REBECCA ANNA b.1852-1853, MARY J. b.1854-1855, JOHN b.1856-1857, d. by 06/1870, ABSOLANO(?) b.1858-1859, FORERID(?) b.1860-1861, SAMANTHA b.1862-1863, BELL b.1866-1867, and ROBERT b.1868-1869. All born in Ohio.
The story is that EZRA BUXTON opened a flour mill in 1865 or 1866 in Millerstown, Ohio. Millerstown does not show on the map and I beleive that the town is now known as Rendville in Perry County. Any knowledge of this? He was killed in 1874 due to a boiler exploding. It is said that his wife, CHARLOTTE, died shortly after Ezra.
Ezra's son, SAMUEL BUXTON, married LUCINDA A. MOODY in 1874 or 1875, propably in Ohio. LUCINDA was born there in July, 1854, as were her parents (unk names). She is said to be a relative of Rev. Dwight Lyman Moody. Samuel and Lucinda had two children, CHARLES HADDEN BUXTON b.07/10/1877 and MARY JANE (JENNIE B.)BUXTON b.01/15/1876, both born at Rendville, Perry Co., Ohio. The family left Ohio and moved to Wisconsin when Charles and Mary Jane were teenagers.
I have already looked up the 1860, 1870, and 1880 Ohio Census under EZRA BUXTON. In the census records there is also a BAZZLE/BAZZIL BUXTON listed that is possibly a relative because he lived in the same county and shows up in Wisconsin in the 1900 census. I would any help you could give me on the BUXTON family, especially EZRA and SAMUEL. Thank you for your help.

I do have the death certificates for James and Mary Loch. I don't, though, have any more specific information on Edward and Elizabeth Bolluis Lewis other than they were both born in Wales (Edward-1855 and Elizabeth 1857) and that their daughter Mary was born in Palmyra, Ohio.
While I'm not researching this line (just happen to have come across this info on Mary's parents), their death certificates may have helpful info. If these details help you narrow down the search, please let me know as I would love to get their certificates.
If not, could I impose upon you for another search? If this is too much of an imposition, please let me know, you're quite busy and I understand.
I am also looking the death certificates for the following two people whom I believe died in Columbiana County (or at least Ohio) but I'm not certain. I have no information other than the following. Again, if it's too vague, I understand.
Robert Loch Born November 14, 1816 Scotland. Died some year after 1865 (last child born October 25, 1865)
Sarrah McVie-Spouse of Robert Loch Born August 3, 1819 Scotland Died some year after 1865 (last child born October 25, 1865)
I don't know if this helps but they had 13 children with the last one being the above James Loch.
I look forward to hearing from you. Many thanks.

I found out about your site in the NAROOTS forum on Compuserve, and when I checked into it I saw your offer for a free lookup in Ohio. I couldn't resist.
I have at least three lines (I suspect more) that I've traced back to Ohio, and no further. So I'd like to take you up on your offer of a free lookup.
The primary person I'm looking for is named Stephen R. HILL. He is listed in my genealogy as having been born in McConnellsville, Morgan County, Ohio in 1827. I suspect that the R. in his name stands for Rufus, because his first son was named Stephen Rufus Hill and his second son was named Rufus Philip Hill, which leads me to believe that one or more of his ancestors was named Rufus or Philip or both.

I hope someone will be able to clear up a mystery for me. I have a James William JULIEN, dob abt 1810 married to Martha KNOTT, dob abt 1807. They were both born in Ohio. I am seeking their parents. I believe, but have no absolute proof that James was the son of Eli Julien, grandson of Peter Julien Jr., ggrandson of Peter Julien Sr. and gggrandson of Rene de St Julien. The census records indicate that Eli had a son of the same age, but there were no names. I have nothing about Martha. Any help would be appreciated.
Next mystery is Erastus E. JOHNSON. Erastus was married to Phoebe SILLS dob 1838 in Champaign Co. Ohio on 9-8-1855. I have some Sills information, but would appreciate more. I don't have any information about Erastus. Amanda Jane Johnson dau. of Erastus and Phoebe, married David Wilson Julian, son of James and Martha Julien. They were married in Wells Co. Indiana and raised a family there.
Sarah Sills, sister of Phoebe, married Calvin CARNEY. Their son Alonzo married Ida Mae FOREMAN daughter of Leonard Foreman and Julia Anne Bowen.
Another son William married Loretta Julian (relationship unknown). This was in Wells Co., Indiana. One of my sources indicates that a Sarah Carney married Charles Julien, son of James and Martha, but that isn't the wife I have for Charles. I do have a Sarah listed as the wife of Alexander Julien, brother to Charles and David. I would love to clear up that mystery and find out who the parents of Sarah were.
Julia Anne BOWEN wife of Leonard had a brother named Andrew and a sister, name unknown. There is another possible brother named Henry. Wells Co. Indiana.
Joseph Henry Foreman, son of Leonard and Julia Anne, married Nancy Elizabeth FOUST. Their daughter Elvira Mae married Dorse Julian, son of David and Amanda Julian. Nancy had a brother named Abe. Wells Co. Indiana.
I hope someone can clear up my mysteries.

with maps of early Ohio and you will discover that at one time Champaign County was a large county. This information should give you some more clues on where to look.

Dear Maggie, Thank you for providing this service. I am hopeful that you will be able to help me locate information on the following family which I believed emmigrated from Ireland in the 1870's.
Unfortunately, I don't have much information. I will list what I know below.
My great grandfather, John Patrick FAHEY, born March 25, 1870, in Ireland, came with his family (parents name unknown) to the united states in the 1870's. From what I understand (and this is through my grandmother) the Fahey family eventually settled in Ohio. I do not know the location, although my grandmother thinks it could be somewhere near Mansfield. She did say that the Fahey family owned a farm and a tavern and that they were fairly well to do. My great grandfather was "disowned" by them as a young man and never kept in contact with them or spoke to them again. I'm trying to find some clue as to who his parents were and, so far, have had no luck. I checked the 1880 Ohio census for a Fahey that had a son named John who was about 10, but found nothing. By 1900, he had left home.
In his petition for naturalization (he didn't petition until he had left home) he mentioned he was born in St. Reamsport Ireland.

Hi There
Great page!!
I am looking for Joseph Bauman/Bowman (German, Roman Catholic) born in Ohio between 1815 and 1820.It is possible that they were in Perry County. His parents names would be Joseph and Josephine(a) and there would have been an older sister Elizabeth, who was born in Pennsylvania in approx.1809-1810. They ended up in the Kitchener/Waterloo area of southern Ontario Canada. Most of them stayed, but Elizabeth married Gideon Ochs ( Oaks ) lived in Tonawanda for a few years, but spent the bulk of her life in Wisconsin.
Any hints or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Chris Bowman

They may have arrived from Switzerland via Alsace, France in the last 1840's. Rumor has it they may both have been born somewhere in Switzerland. I am interested in the names of their children, the location of the property in Salt Creek, Where Joseph and Catherine were born and who their parents may have been. No one seems to be able to locate any info about them or any generations of the family prior to them.
Thanks

Well I searched Holmes county with a fine tooth comb and found no mention
of any Haidet. It was amazing not even in the land deed records and I hate
digging in those things. Because of previous work in this area I knew that
there was a high concentration of French names in Stark County and Holmes and
Stark are fairly close together. First I looked in the 1880 Ohio Census
index. (I have not looked at these yet I was only seeking a location.) There
were the following Haidet's there:
John MHSM 202B (Mahoning County, Smith Township)
Mary MHSM 202B
John STLE 112D (Stark County, Lexington Township)
Louisa STLE 112D
John STPL 389D (Stark County, Plain Township)
I then went to the cemetery books and found lots of Haidets near Alliance
(Lexington Township, Stark County) and Canton (Plain Township, Stark County).
Also I saw some Haidets in the St. Louis Cemtery in Louisville when I was
looking for someone else's tombstone.
Also I copied the Haidet section of the Stark County Death Records
1867-1908. If you want the copies send a self addressed stamped envelope to
650 N. Drexel Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43219. There was a Joseph Haidet
there...Male, DOD 1Mar1899, Married, 46y 6m 13d, POD Ohio, POB Ohio, Farmer,
POR Barryville, Volume 3, page 254.
I do plan to search in the Census records for you as well unless you have
access. (Do you live around Ohio?) I did find a Haidet Researcher on record
at the Stark County Library. She is:

My ancestors, Francois JACQUET (1817-1884), his wife Francoise MUGNIER JACQUET (1813-1872), and their children came from Les Houches, Haute Savoie, France in 1847 (exact date and ship unknown). They settled in Louisville,Ohio and had more children. We are descended from one of the sons, Albert Ambrose JACQUET (1843-1907). Recently, a possible relative living in Indiana sent me information on 'her' JACQUET ancestor. John Baptiste JACQUET came to the US in 1834 and settled in Stark County, Ohio. By 1850, they had moved on to Wells Co., Indiana. The name eventually became JACQUAY instead of JACQUET.
My question (one of them) is whether and how my Francois JACQUET is related to Jean Baptiste JACQUET. ANY other JACQUETs out there who are researching this name PLEASE get in touch with me.

I found a reference to a Naturalization for Julian Jaquet in the Common Pleas Journal U:209. I did not have time to search at the Courthouse for this maybe next time or you can send email to scdlgen@oplin.lib.oh.us requesting the information.
I found the following estate in Stark County: Jacquet, Francis (John J. Jacquet, ex'r) Case #2254 NS F page561. Also there was a will in G-207, 3-28-1884 Nimishillen Township. Balizet, Eugenia (Infant) 12Aug1862
WOW! I AM OVERWHELMED!!!
Thank you for doing all that research for me! The Frances JACQUET who is
listed as dying of Typhoid in 1872 is actually Francoise JACQUET. From my
late mother's research: "Vital statistics in Canton, Ohio confused the
Francois and the Francoise" The year is right. I hadn't known what she died
of. The Francis JACQUET who left a will in 1884 is Francois JACQUET. It is
interesting to me that the church cemetary records list them as Francisca
and Francisus! Mom had said that she hadn't found any headstones.
You mention finding naturalization records on Julian JACQUET. Was there any
indication as to whether Francois (Francis) or Francoise (Frances) had ever
been naturalized? I know they came over from France in 1847--there may not
be records that far back. I will send for the estate and will of Francis
JACQUET. I am really very curious if they lived in town or had a farm in
the country--they were farmers in France.
Thank you again for all your helpful research! That was really kind of you.
I will forward this info to my brother Dave, and to a possible cousin in
Indiana who is doing research on the Jacquet's. Thanks!

Debby,
I found all the death certs but the one for Harry and found one with his
death date as 1929. I forgot to do the Cellars/Cellers spelling so will check tomorrow when I go back. I also found 4 Beckelhymer's that died in Clermont County so I copied those for you as well. There will be a total of 10 certs. (Grin)I was amazed that I found them all. If you send a self addressed stamped
envelope to 6085 Wiclif Rd. NE, North Canton, Ohio 44721. I will send your
certs back. BTW, I would put 64cents postage on that one.

Dear Ms. Stewart-Zimmerman,
I just discovered this Ohio web page today and am delighted with all that everyone has done. I am wondering if you could help me locate where the records of the Ohio Company have been stored. My 5th great grandfather, Daniel LORING, bought a share in the Ohio Company in November 1787 from Rufus Putnam with his Continental Specia and I believe $10.00. Shortly thereafter (probably early 1788) traveled with his family to the Belpre area. I am interested in obtaining documentation on his purchase for my geneaological research. Dear Maggie:
Thanks so much for answering my query. Page 94 of the Loring Genealogy states that on November 8, 1787, Daniel Loring"... gave Rufus Putnam, Agent, the sum of One thousand dollars in Continental Specie Certificates and Ten Dollars which I promise shall constitiute him the proprietor of one share in the funds of the Ohio Company." Obviously, I would like to locate the records so that I might get a copy of that portion if possible.
At that time,Daniel was living in Sudbury, Massachusetts, having been married to a Bathsheba Howe, daughter of Col. Ezekiel Howe of Longfellow's Tales of a Wayside Inn fame. She died and he remarried and moved to Belpre.
Since you know the area, you undoubtedly are familiar with the old Loring farmhouse which was on the property now occupied by Shell Chemical. When I was very, very small, probably in 1928, I dimly remember my parents driving up the driveway to look at the old house. My mother told me that the apple trees around the farmhouse had been planted by Johnny Appleseed. The people at Shell told me that the house had been moved to Blennerhasset Island, although some years ago, my mother told me that she had been told it had been torn down. I didn't have an occasion to go to Blennerhasset then, but am planning to visit and go there later this spring.
Again thanks for answering. Jean Winters

Jean,
Well I got educated today about The Ohio Company. BTW, I remember the house you are talking about. My grandmas house was right behind where they built the Shell Plant and we used to go there all the time. If you have not been to Belpre in a long time you are in for a pleasant surprise. They have built parks and really cleaned up along the river. Now back to what you wanted. I found the proof you want and copied the pages from "The Records of the Original Proceedings of the Ohio Company." I copied the entire transaction. It may be too much but I always like the entire thing so you go it all. (grin)Send a Self Addressed Stamped Envelope to 6085 Wiclif Rd. NE, North Canton, Ohio 44721 and I will send you this back. Hi Maggie,
Thank you for asking. My ggggrandmother, Elizabeth KENDAL MILLER, died in 1866. This info from her husband, Obed MILLER's, tombstone at Greenlawn Cemetery, Columbus, OH. Cemetery records reveal she is not buried with him. Would like to locate the place and exact date of death for Elizabeth. Is there an 1870 death index for Columbus, OH or some other record where I could obtain this information? Obed MILLER died 30 Dec 1883. Elizabeth's last child was born in Columbus in 1850. If you could just "point" me in the right direction, I would be very grateful.
Two lines of my family went to Ohio from Pennsylvania and got together in Ohio. Sarah MILLER, eldest daughter of Obed and Elizabeth married Jacob KAME. When Jacob died in 1870, Sarah left Ohio with 7 of her 10 children and came to California. Quite a feat for a lady "alone." She bought farmland in the rich San Joaquin Valley and was something of a land baroness, but she was remembered best by being the first woman superintendent at Tulare County Hospital. Historical records do not reflect her service, but the cousin who found the burial info on Obed also found record of payments to Sarah MILLER KAME for services as HEAD of Tulare County Hospital! This same lady was midwife to many births in the Tulare County area. She would wear black nightgowns to keep from being a good target for the Indians when she would go out at night to attend a birth. Her "little black bag" is part of the historical display at the Mooney Grove Museum in Tulare. Sorry!! I digress!!
Thanks again! Dianna

Diana,
I had an extra few minutes today and found that obit on Obed (grin):
From the Columbus Dispatch, Tuesday, 1/1/1884:
"MILLER - Sunday night at 10 o'clock, OBED MILLER, in the eighty second year of his age. Funeral Wednesday afternoon, January 2 at two o'clock from Neal Chappel."

Maxine,

Actually there were only three with the surname spelling of Messerole in Ohio. Those listings are: (let me know if you want me to look them up or not)
Messerole, Jacob Lorain County, Russia Township, pg 245
Messerole, Jonathan Lorain County, Russia Township, pg 244
Messerole, Jonathan Lorain County, Russia Township, pg 244
BTW, I checked my census CD and there was no Alexander David Meserole/Messerole listed at all for 1850.

Maxine,
Here are the census records from Lorain County Russia Township, pages 243B, 244A, and 244B:
33-33 Jonathan Messerole 26 Farmer NY (pg 243B)

Do you have any more information on him...like does he have brothers and sisters, childrens names that sort of thing. That will give me somewhere to start. There are a lot of Vance's in that area.
Maggie
P.S. Could he have gone by another name like a nickname or Colby?

This is Erin again. You wrote me a week or so ago stating that you were still looking for John Colby VANCE's death record for me. I have some updated info that I just received. It has come to my attention that the dates for him may be John Colby Vance ( 1861-1934) instead of the previous date of 1861-1932 that I gave you and that the county may have been Franklin, County Ohio.
Also the Henry Vance (1890-1918) may have been in Franklin County also. Also, that Henry's wife Iva Pearl (FORTH) Vance (1887-1927) remarried after Henry's death. Her new name would have been Iva Pearl SAXTON and that may also be under Franklin County.
All this info differs from what I had known before. Will this be of any help to you? I am sorry to put you to so much trouble. Thank you for all your help and support.

Then on the 20th of June, same year 1870, Patrick is listed again in Madison Township as Patrick FINN, 25, born in Canada, with wife, Mary, 22, born in England. (Mary's sister, Margaret KILLGALON born in England married Patrick's brother, John FINN in 1871)

Dear Ms. Maggie Stewart Zimmerman:
Can you help me find any information on Nettie Cronise LUTES, possibly aka Nettie C. TATOR? I would be most grateful!
I am a lecturer at Stanford Law School and have been researching a woman lawyer and suffragist Nettie C. Tator who applied for admission to the CA bar [and was rejected] in 1872. I have reason to believe she may be the same woman as Nettie C. Lutes who became Ohio's first woman lawyer [admitted to the bar in 1873].
Annette Cronise was born in Republic Ohio in 1843 and spent most of her life in Tiffin [she is in the 1850, 1860 and 1870 census records as Cronise or Cronhise and appears as a lawyer in the 1880 census as Nettie C. Lutes].
Annette may have attended Heidelberg College in Tiffin, OH and then IL St. U. at Normal in the 1860s. I suspect she may have married a poet, Henry H. Tator from New York during the early 1860's. He published a sonnet "To Nettie" in Springfield, IL in 1859. A copy of that work carries the inscription "Presented to Miss Nettie/ Compliments of the Author/ HHT/ New York /60"
Nettie C. Tator delivered a suffrage address to the CA legislature in 1872 and said she was not a CA resident but 10 days later she applied for admission to the bar... and then disapppeared. Only a handful of women in those days were qualified to practice law. The woman who became Nettie C. Lutes in 1873 in Ohio was one.
I should also tell you that I pulled an article off the web on Nettie http://www.sddt.com/~columbus/Files3/hf960802.html. This article tells of three children by Nelson Burgess Lutes: Elinor Seney Lutes b. 6/4/1875; Evelyn Latta Lutes b. 6/27/1877; and Lillian Cronise Lutes b. 8/8/1882.
I have also requested a copy of A.R. Landever's book-- Four Remarkable Ohio Lawyers-- through Stanford Interlibrary Loan.
I appreciate any response you can give.

I am looking for information on my great great great grandfather Isaac Craigo. He was born in Ohio around 1813. He married a woman named Suzanna (also born around 1813) around 1833 (his oldest son John was born in 1834). There is a Daniel Crego who shows up in the 1820 Knox county census, who could be his father. Any help you could give me with this search would be greatly appreciated.

REQUESTING INFORMATION & POSSIBLE COPY OF MY FATHERS PASQUALE CAPOZZI BIRTH CITIFICATE, BORN JULY 2, 1902 IN REVENNA, OHIO. HIS PARENTS WERE ALFONSE ANTHONY CAPOZZI BORN AUG.2,1965 AND MONICA MARIE MORANO CAPOZZI BORN MAY 4, 1868 IN ITALY. HAVE NO MARRIAGE DATE. I DONT KNOW WHEN THEY LEFT ITALY BUT THEY HAD 2 SONS, ANTHONY & PASQUALE AND 1 DAUGHTER FLORENCE BORN IN OHIO. ANOTHER SON, JAMES NOT SURE OF BIRTHPLACE AND ANOTHER DAUGHTER LENA WAS BORN IN N.Y.CITY IN THE YEAR 1913. WOULD LIKE TO FIND OUT WHERE MY GRANDPARENTS WERE BORN IN ITALY AND ANY OTHER INFORMATION YOU MAY BE ABLE TO FIND. THANK YOU PAT CAPOZZI PA698@JUNO.COM

Pat, First your father was not born in Ravenna or Portage County. I checked and
double checked every spelling I could think of and it was not there. What I
did find was the following Naturalization.
Alphonso Capozzi
Naturalization 11/7/1904
Native of Italy
Minors & Solders #3 1903-1906, page 16
I assume this means he was somewhere else before coming here. I am going
up to Akron in my searches and that is a very real possibility. Do you know
where he died?
MINORS & SOLDERS #3 - IS THIS A BOOK AND WHERE WOULD I FIND IT.
It was a book in the Portage County Courthouse.
DID YOU FIND THE NATURALIZATION FOR ALPHONSO CAPOZZI IN THE OHIO STATE
RECORDS, AND WOULD IT BE POSSIBLE TO GET A COPY OF SUCH PAPER.
What I typed to you was all that there was in the Portage County
Courthouse. There were no marriages, births, deaths, wills, or estates there.
That is why I asked where they died. At the Portage County Courthouse I found
no mention of the Capozzi name at all. I suppose one could look in telephone
directories but I did not see any where I was. I imagine you could get a copy
but it would be exactly what I typed. I tried to find out where in Italy they
came from. I would suggest that you look for a Declaration of Intent which I
would imagine might be in New York City. My best guess is that they arrived
there. I can't remember if that year would be indexed or not. I will check.
Have you looked at the census records for 1910 & 1920? These list the year
arrived and sometimes tell you where they came from. I am going up to Summit
County (Akron) one day next week so I will look there. Ravenna and Akron are
very close together and they could have filed the originals there and the
children could have been born there.

The county is listed as unknown. Wife is listed as Laura Ione, parents as unknown. How do I proceed? Can you help? Can you point me in a direction to take? (I need help to find where) He died 04/01/1932 in Independence County Arkansas His Wife is Margaret Elizabeth BLOUNT born 1878 in Independence County Arkansas. His Father is Benjamin JONES born sometime from 1830 to 1840 in Ohio(from my est. I think 1837). His Mother is Luiza* born in Ohio as well.*(spelled Luiza on the 1880 Arkansas census, probally spelled Louisa) I know the family moved from Ohio between 1876 and 1877.
Benjamin and Louisa had 8 children in all. Francis b. 1863, Laura, Albert R., Julia, John P., Clara, Arron (Aron on the 1880 AR census), Louis. As close as I could get was a marriage of a Benjamin JONES and a Louisa BAY in Noble Ohio in Auglaize Co. in 15 Oct 1859. This sounds like it could be the right dates but I am not 100% sure.

Hello,
I could sure use some help. I have been faithfully looking for over a year now for a mother and married daughter.
I have been looking for a death record and or burial place of each. Catherine MARTZ (August) and Caroline BECKMAN(Martz)
Catherine Martz (MARRS, MARZ) born Baden Germany husband Ignatius Martz (Marrs, Marz) born France. Can't find his burial either. They married in Stark County Ohio April 9 1833. Their daughter Caroline Martz Beckman born 1835 and son Joseph Martz 1836 were born in Stark County Ohio, The Martz moved to Shelby County Berlin Ohio and were listed as one of the first 54 families at St Michaels Church in Berlin in 1838. Daughter Caroline was married in Berlin to Henricus Beckman in Nov 6 1855. Children of Carolina born Nov 10 1858, Elisabeth Feb 12 1862, Odilla Matilda Dec 12 1864, Joseph October 8 1866, Bernard (Ben) Nov 28 1868, Johann Jan 6 1871 Henry Oft 24 1872, William June 23 1874.
Henry Beckman is buried at St Michaels church cemetery, in Berlin Shelby, Caroline is not buried with him. Children might be in Auglazie, St Mary's, or surrounding areas. Daughter Catherine moved to St Cloud Minnesota, mother is not buried there.
My question is where do I obtain a death record for Henry I tried probate in Shelby, but they couldn't find a record ?
Is there any kind of state death or cemetery index to find Catherine Martz and Caroline Beckman in Ohio?
What does the 1840-50-60 census show and where would I get them?
What luck would I have is I actually look for a researcher to do the work for me? I would really appreciate some advice. I cannot do paper research myself, I am vision impaired. Thanks Lexi

Such a spot was described in the 1940's as being on Gad Blakeslee's farm..no mention of a cemetery, just arrowheads and a tombstone maker.
Question : I have ordered the microfisch of the 1820 Medina and Lorain County tax records..However, towns seem to have had different names back then. And since they seem to be listed by town names, I don't know which towns go with which County. For instance, which village was orriginally called Rootsville?
In advance, Thanks

Maggie:
I'm only a beginner at this, so if I don't have enough information for you, let me know. I'm the first to admit, I don't have a clue to what I'm doing except what I've read.
Here goes, I'm trying to trace the LIST family of Circleville, Pickaway, Ohio, USA. I have the following information:
LIST, Bernard SS 276-14-4117 1/18/03 to 9/72 LIST, Connor SS 295-34-8793 10/10/00 to 6/77 LIST, Florence SS 291-05-7313 5/13/13 to 5/22/89 These are the only three siblings I know for sure. There are others, I think 3 or 4. Both Florence and Connor continued to live in Ohio throughout much of their lives. Bernard traveled the world.
I am trying to trace the parents, other siblings, and possibly grandparents. Believe it or not, Bernard was my father, but was never on speaking terms with the rest of his family, therefore never spoke of them. Florence finally contacted him only months before his death (when I was a teen).
Can you help, I read where you are backed up. That's fine, I really don't know where to start. Finding records in Ohio when you live in Texas is really hard.
Thanks Oodles, Regina List-Grace rlist-grace@hlp.com
