I'm researching the MacEachen family who moved to Columbus Ohio in the late 1860s or 1870s. I am lead to believe the Forename to be Neil, his wife was Either Elizabeth or Isabell(a). There were to have had approx... 6 children. One Roderick MacEachern, possibly Mary and Margaret, I have no information on the others. The family was from Nova Scotia possibly via Boston MA. The name MacEachen is not a common name in the Ohio area during the period I mentioned.

The census film T9-1057 Neil McEachen is on page 229C in Shawnee Twp, Perry Co, OH. (Provided By Ron Hunter) Anyone who may be passing by the reference and may take a little look, I would greatly appreciate knowing the information contained on the microfilm.

Back again and still not much further - please any information you can provide on:

BROWN, Levi Walter - ran a general store in Burlington (I'd like to know location and dates of general store if possible) before moving to Wauseon in 1880 to serve three (3) terms as Fulton Co. Probate Judge (1879-?); appointed 1889 US Consul to Scotland by Pres Harrison (original documents are in my possession); married three times and in 1883 to Esther Converse STONE I assume in Fulton Co. - could you please send me information on their marriage, dates, location, etc. and especially any information on Esther (I do have some of her lineage as well)

Am willing to share all I have - will send my GEDCOM if you are interested plus numerous clippings, original documents (teaching certificates, appointments, personal letters, photos), family tidbits, etc.

Also searching for information of my great aunt Ruth Armstrong BROWN's husband Reas CAMPBELL - I have almost nothing on Uncle Reas, his birthplace, his previous marriage and to whom, and his two children from that marriage: Jean and William CAMPBELL only family photos, clippings of their graduation, wedding shower, marriage all from the Wauseon newspaper, and a brief obit on Reas CAMPBELL.

Last but not least - need to complete death information (dates, cemetary) on: REYNOLDS, John Jr. and his wife HINKLEY, Rachel both died c 1840 in Lucas Co. and do not appear on the 1850 first Fulton Co. census to my knowledge

Thank you for anything you can provide - I'll be making a visit to Wauseon the second week of June and plan to spend some time at Wauseon Union Cemetary where my father was recently buried (January 1998), possibly Johnson Cemetary, and also a visit to Fulton Co. Historical Museum where I spent much time with my favorite great Aunt Ruth Armstrong Brown Campbell as a child when it was apartments as well as when it was converted into the museum.

Hello again ,
I wonder if there is someone out in Ohio with information on Thomas AYERS of Monroe & Guernsey Cos. I am trying to find my ancestors. father and since Thomas was a name in these Counties as well as Schuyler Co. Missoure, I think this may be the one. He was married before1847 and had minor children when he married in Monroe Co. one Mary CROW. My William H. Ayers was born in 1842. Then in 1850 I have no record of William, is he listed with Mary Ayers in Monroe Co/ Ojio? in 1860, Willliam Ayers is listed in Schuyler Co. Mo. with a 67 year old Nancy Ayers of Va. no other parent. Is Nancy a sister of Thomas? by this time Thomas has disapeared to the gold fields of California. Mary may have sent the children of Thomas to live with Nancy. In 1850 there is a Thomas Ayers listed in Schuyler Co. Mo. was he on his way to Cal? Makes me wonder if my missing Ayers wan't this man. who 17 years later returns to find his wife had remarried and divorced another man?
If you have the census for 1850 could you please look for this family for me! Thanks so much, Shirley

I am looking for information concerning the parents of Francis H. FREEMAN, born in 1846. I have found her listed on the 1850 census with the family of John Wantz, Lewisburg, Harrison Twp, Preble Co. Ohio. It lists her place of birth as Ohio. I have assumed it was in Preble Co, but I may be mistaken.

It is possible that she was an orphan, or at least perhaps one of her parents had died.

Somehow she made a migration to northeastern Indiana, where she married Israel Billman in Januray of 1866. They settled north of Ligonier.

I would also be interested in any information concerning the WANTZ family. A brief search did not reveal any Freeman connection, but that, as you know, does not necessarily mean there was none.

Does anyone have access to listings of public records, obituaries, old phone books or city directories, etc for Akron? I would be glad to reimburse you for your time, and most grateful for your assistance.

I am trying to find any living descendants of E.M. BARBEE who was living in Akron with his family by the late 1940.s. I.m sure he died and was buried there. He was born in Tazewell Co, Virginia, in the 1890.s, the son of Lee J. Barbee and Fannie Patton McCall (Barbee) who was born in Tazewell Co on Jan 17, 1869 (a sister of my g. grandmother), and died in Akron in 1957. Lee and Fannie had at least one other son, Lee J. Barbee Jr., whom I cannot find either.

I would love to find a death date for Fannie, the names of her children, and the names of any living descendants. I am compiling a book about the McCall family of Graham/Bluefield, Virginia, and would love to include Fannie's branch of the family. I have data on all her siblings and their descendants, most of whom stayed in Virginia. Thank you to anyone who may be able to help.

Someone asked about my HOOVER, HOVER, HUBER collateral from the "History of the Descendants of John HOTTEL" family book. I don't see any Hover listed. But I do have the following:

Laura Elizabeth BARHAM b. Oct.28, 1902
m. Dec.22,1922 George HOOVER born at Woodstock, Va. (son of James H. HOOVER)
Car Inspector, Ontario Road, Washington, D.C.

Rebecca Frances SHEETZ, b. Dec.20, 1846
m. Dec.9, 1877 Andrew Jackson HOOVER, b. Dec.6, 1855; miller. Luthern Church.
1a. Ruth Elizabeth HOOVER b. Nov.15, 1880

Betty Louise HOOVER, born Mar.23, 1925
Frances Hazel HOOVER, born Oct.14, 1926
Warren Jackson HOOVER, born Feb. 2, 1923
these children may be cited incorrectly. Warren Jackson HOOVER is listed as 746-b, which would make him the brother of Marvin HOOVER, but by the date given he would have to be his son. Doris, Robert, Betty and Frances are hopefully the children of Marvin and Gertrude as they are posted directly beneath them. This book does have mistakes, so don't take all the information given as gospel...just as a refence. If it is important, I'd try to find documentation as proof.

Thought I would update my information - I am researching the family of William JB Jessup (out of Mt Vernon Ohio) he was married twice first to an Audrey and they had 3 children Olga Victoria, S. William and Annabelle Lee. Then between the years 1931 nad 1935 he married a Gerturde, In 1952 William JB retired as the Chief of Police and moved to Jamica Long Island New York where he died and was buried.

The SS CD offers no information on his death date .... ? Family rumors offer no information on the date (except that it was after my parent got married so we are thinking 1957)

I have tried to talk to the Police department in Mt Vernon - they will not offer me any information what so ever ...... All I wanted to see was a picture of him, apparently they wanted his body moved back to Mt Vernon to be buried .....

William had one brother named Miles (found his grave) found his wife's grave and their son's grave and there son's wife grave - all located in Mt Vernon area.

William JB also had another half-brother named Charles (my Grandfather)

Anne was William's sister - she stayed in Mt Vernon and married a Harvey Hedrick.

Any help with this family would be nice - so if anyone can help me out I would appreciate it --- as it stands right now the only hope I have for finding out is to sit and read the microfiche records at the Mt Vernon library.

I believe she is my gggrandmother and appears on 1870 and later census records as a dau in Peter REED household. Martin Luther LOUDENSLAGER, who is my great grandfather, appears under her name as a grandson in the same household, but there is no mention of! a father. But I have the impression Charles was from Va. same as his father, who by the way, William B. HOOVER served as a Confederate soldier under Stonewall Jackson in his Stonewall Brigade in the Civil War. He took part in the first battle of Manassas and fought in every battle with the Brigade to the time of it's surrender. He was in the service 4 years. Charles may have lived in Pa. Sarah C. She lived with her daughter, Olive, in Lima, Ohio probably after her husband died. There is a Virginia Belle HOOVER, born in Ill. Arthur Jackson HOOVER married Frances OLINGER, born in Ohio in 1872. They lived in Ohio (he's the son of James Knox Polk HOOVER) Otis HOOVER lived in Pa. with his wife Elsie (GOUKER) . she was born in Littletown, Pa. They lived in Gettysburg, Pa. Funny thing, Otis was in the same campaigns as my father was in France...they might have known each other! (they were at Meuse Argonne, Aisne, Chateau-Thierry and some others.)

Thought I'd look on this list also for my gggg-grandfather Daniel SNYDER.

Have been searching a long time for my gggg-grandfather, Daniel SNYDER. (that's how we spell it) born 1790s PA or OH (we think) married Elizabeth McMahan b. 1795 PA or OH (we think). Her parents Joseph McMahan b.1761 PA m. Mary Schryhauser/Schreihauser in 1792 Pittsburgh, PA. That part we know from the pension application of Joseph McMahan in 1820s.

Daniel and Elizabeth Snyder had 4 children (we know of) born OH: Joseph b.1816 m.(Nancy Clark), unknown son 1818 ran away at 14, Abner b.1820 m.(Margaret Cox), Sarah b.1822 m. (Francis "Frank" Parker). They appear to have lived in Sandy Springs, Adams Co, OH in 1830s. By 1844 this family had moved to Whiteside Co, IL where Elizabeth remarried. So, SOMETHING happened to gggg-grandfather Daniel before 1844.

Wondering about the "PA or OH" part... someone on one of the mailing lists talked about changing borders and when the different county and state borders were formed... what years and where did they actually live. Could all these ancestors have been born in VA or KY or PA or OH or some other territory instead. Depends on what group sheet you look at if it says PA on one sheet, the other one says OH. And, wondering if the Snyder name was Snider or Schneider or delSnyder/Schneider at some point.

Have you seen my gggg-grandfather in your research? How can I find him... such a lot of Snyders are out there... with so little information to go on? Could he be related to any of yours? Could his name really have been Joseph "Daniel" Snyder or John "Daniel" Snyder or James "Daniel" Snyder or Henry "Daniel" Snyder... Snider or Schneider???? I guess I've really hit the "brick wall" as they say. Thanks for listening and if you have any suggestions I'd love to hear!

Evan I (b:~1788 or so) married to Elizabeth REYNOLDS
7 children
(two key people here
Maurice (1821-?
Evan II (1812-?)

In 1845 or so Evan I and most of family (Evan II stayed behind) came overseas to Ohio....

Maurice stayed in Columbus

Everybody else seems to have gone up to Putnam County...

Evan II (in Wales) married and had a gaggle of kids of his own

Evan III (b:1840- again in Carno area)

Married .. etc...

In 1880 he and his came to live with Maurice (Maurice paid the $40 to get everybody here)

Evan III is my grandfather's grandfather....

I need help tracking people down...

LDS Ordinance records show that the EVANS/REYNOLDS "Family Bible" is in the possesion of ? Biddle.... probably in the Putnam area...

There is supposedly a "Reynolds Family Cemetary" in the Putnam area..

Is anybody going that direction and might be able to spend a bit of time helping out?

John Krile(sometimes listed as Crile in census records) born Feb abt 1854 in Ohio. Married to Maria C. who may have been a second wife. Maria was born in July 1853. Daughters Leah Pearl born July 1883 in Ohio and Retta V born in abt 1880. Retta married a man by the name of Stewart and had a son Donald...Leah married Claire Loveland and they were later divorced.

In census records, John lists his parents as having come from Baden, Germany and that German was their first language. I haven't been able to find surname Krile or Crile in German records and suspect that it was altered entering this country...Any suggestions.

Also, there are two families in census records for Ohio with sons John that are the right age....John was living in Fulton County in his adult years.

Hello everyone! I'm a recent addition to the list and have been very interested in all the activity. I need some help in finding my ggfather's line. He was born in Knox County in 1837. Family lore has it that he was an orphan, so my question is - was it common to adopt a child and give him a new surname, or were these children raised with their family name. Second question, he was married in Oak Hill, OH. Does anyone know the county in which Oak Hill was located (it may also have been called Portland Village & if it was, it may have been located in Jackson County). I have in his own handwriting that the ceremony was performed by a J.P. named J. E. Jones, if that is at all helpful to anyone. Thanks.

My surnames I am looking for started in Morgan Co. but in 1851 when Noble Co. was formed they became Noble Co. people. I am looking for any info that could help link. I am mostly looking for the parents of my gg-grandfather, he will be the first on my list.

William H.S. BARRY b. abt. 1810 ? d. 6 Feb. 1846 bur. Olive Cemetery Caldwell
Wife: Mary Gilkerson B. abt 1812 Ohio d. ?
Remarried: 1856 Frances Pette(a)y. They lived in Noble Co. in the Sarahsville area.

Children of Wm and Mary
Ruth Ellen b. abt 1836 Sarahsville, Morgan Co., d. 186? m. James Hesson
Ruth died from child bed fever. She had 3/4 children. She and James lived in Stock Twp. in Noble Co.
Samuel b. 1839 Sarahsville, Morgan Co.,Ohio d.? m.?
I know nothing about this man.
Allen b. 1843 Sarahsville, Morgan Co.,Ohio d. abt 1901 Michigan
John W. b.June 2 1846 Sarahsville, Morgan Co., Ohio d. 25 Sept 1908
Orting, Washington m. Frances Viola Perkins 1Sept 1869 Saranac, Ionia Co.,Michigan

Family story goes that John and brother Allen ran away from home 1860. John lied about his age and his name to join the civil war. He used his father's name. From that time on even until death he never gave his right name or age. He stated," I RAN AWAY FROM A MEAN STEPFATHER." Because of his dislike for the name Frances he always call his wife by her middle name Viola.

ANY help with these families would help a number of people who are getting pretty much let down by not finding anything.

Thank you,

Harriet Lytle born 1831 in OH.
Harriet Kimmey Lytle died in 1834 in I believe Lancaster, Fairfield County 1834.

Good morning, Maggie and All...

I am still searching for my family connection. I have the McKibbin family bible, and it begins with the birth of Thomas McKibbin, my GGgrandfather, who was born in 1806, but it doesn't say where. He married Eleanor Bayes, who was born in 1804. They had their first child, a son named Thomas B., in what was then Holmes County, and when Thomas was small, they moved to Wauseon. I think that my great-grandfather, their son Robert Irvine McKibbin, was born in Wauseon in Fulton County in April of 1839. He was in Co K, 38th Infantry, Ohio Volunteers of the Union Army in the Civil War. His brother, William, was a drummer-boy in the same unit, and they marched with General Sherman through Georgia and took part in the seige of Savannah. Robert McKibbin married Nancy Jane Fairchild, daughter of Sherman Fairchild, in Wauseon, and they had a son named Royal "Roy" Bird McKibbin, my grandfather. I have found the grave of a Thomas B. McKibbin in a cemetery in Delaware, Ohio, but he died in 1848, so he may have been the father of my GGgrandfather, Thomas. Robert also had four sisters: Mary, Jane, Catherine and Margaret. Jane married a Garman and Margaret married a Gunn. Mary married a cousin, Thomas M. McKibbin, adding to the confusion. I would love to hear from anyone who might have a connection to my family. Also, sometimes the name is spelled McKibbEN, instead of with the IN ending. It is doubly confusing, because the same individual is often recorded with both spellings.

Hi All,
Need some help with locating where my Great Grandmother was born and who her parents were. My Grandmother did a lot of research during the 50's and the only thing that she came up with was:

John H. BROWN b. 20 Feb 1846 Richmond,IN. d. 13 Mar 1923 Richmond,IN. m.23 Apr 1873 Mary E. (Mollie) GILLESPIE b. 18 Mar 1853

Since John was born and died in Richmond, IN. my sister and I have been looking in this area, without any success. My Mother who is 82 told my sister the other day: "When I was about 5 years old (1921)her mother had a fight with my grandfather and packed her up and they went for a visit with John and Mary who at that time were living in Danville, IL. She remembers seeing her Grandfather but not her Grandmother. However, they did visit a lady in a BIG house. They met het in a big RED (?) room and she had beutiful white hair. My mother set on her lap while they visited. My mother says that she has always thought that this was Mary. My mother also told my sister that Mary came from Bellefontaine, Logan Co., OH." Since I have just learned of this posible connection with Ohio this is my first attempt at finding any information.

Any help or ideas will be greatly appreciated. I do have lots of information on other lines that I would gladly share with anyone.

I am researching Tryphena (Mills) Stewart, widow of John Harvey Stewart. Tryphena died 10 May 1847. Family records do not say where she died. Church records say Tryphena was dismissed from the Congregational Church in Bloomfield, NY to Euclid, Ohio in 1816. I found her son Michael in the 1840 Ohio Fed Census with a family which included a female 80 to 90 years old. I have presumed that this is his mother Tryphena and have been trying to find her burial in Cuyahoga Co.

So if anyone has access to Cuyahoga Co. cemetery records or deaths in 1847 or can tell me where to look I would appreciate any help in finding Tryphena Stewart's burial place. Note that I am sending this message to & .

Maggie, I am trying to find something on my gr-grandfather's family. I'm not real sure of the "facts" I have, but here goes:Robert Bruce Murray. Born 1840, Columbus, Ohio. Father Alexander, from Scotland, mother-blank(1925 census). He was in the Civil War-46th Ohio Volunteer Infantry. He supposedly had two sisters;Maria who married Wallace Taggert and Rachel who married a Mr. Hotchkins, and four brothers;Ed, Alec, Wallace, and Douglas. I have been unable to locate anything further on his parents or siblings. My mother recalled some family talk-he talked little about his family apparently. It was said "Uncle Wall" went to CA and was swollowed by a whale. She remembered her mother(daught of R.B.)telling of a sister coming up from Missouri for a visit, and she thought at least one brother lived around here. "Here" being Linn Co. Iowa where he came after the war and lived until he died on Dec. 25, 1925-and buried Strawn Cemetery, Linn Co. IA. There was an Alexander Murray listed in the Linn Co. History, but I don't know if there was a connection or not. It would be the bro., not the father. I would be very thankful if you could give me any info from your end and/or point me in the right direction--I am new to both the internet and genealogy so you may have to lead me by the hand! (I was sorry to learn of your mother's health problem and pray she will be fine. Believe me, their generation is much tougher than ours.)

I have been searching for any information I can get my hands or eyes on regarding my ancestors who were early settlers (1820's) in Auglaize County, Ohio. Here is what I know thus far. George B. McClellan SMITH (d1914) married to Mary KOEHN (d1957). Henkle SMITH married to Levina COPSEY. The "e" in Henkle was written on George's death certificate. I question this because of the following names. Asa Hinkle SMITH (d1851) married to Caroline BODKIN (d1857). Henry SMITH married to Eliz. HINKLE. The last two names are on the list of early settlers in the "Early History of Auglaize County". They settled in St. Marys Township in 1820-21 according to Atlas 80, pg. 31. I have been unable to confirm that these last two people are Asa Hinkle SMITH's parents. But Asa Hinkle SMITH was the first white child born in Auglaize County, Ohio. Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated. I'm a novice at genealogy research so I don't know all the places to look. Thank you, in advance, for your time and effort on my behalf. Hello Ohio Lists! I new to these lists, but I have been trying to find some information on my James Armstrong (b. 1788 Milton, PA) who was in Ohio for a time - 10 yrs that I know of. I have always wondered if the moved to Ohio as a young man alone - or with family???

From the "Bureau of Land Management Eastern Land Patents" site I found a number of references to my James Armstrong - in Ohio as well as Michigan. Here is what I found. My James (who has been established to have arrived in Schoolcraft Twp, Kalamazoo Co, MI in 1829) went to the Monroe Michigan land office and purchased three land patents of 80 acres(quarter sections) each in April of 1831, and he is listed as "of Kalamazoo County, Michigan." THEN, in June of 1831 he went back to Monroe and purchased the other quarter of the section eight - and was listed as "James Armstrong, of Crawford County, Ohio." !!!!!!!!!!!

Previous, when I discovered Elizabeth Armstrong's maiden name to be GEORGE - a marriage record for James Armstrong and Elizabeth Armstrong was found in Columbiana, Co, Ohio for 1820. ????(This is not yet verified - I'm not sure how to find out if there is any other information, like ages, on this record.???)

So I looked in the Land Patents of Ohio for James Armstrong - and there in Crawford Co, Ohio is "James Armstrong of the State of Ohio" purchasing 80 acres the 10th of December, 1821. This would have allowed them to be married in Columbiana Co, Ohio,in 1820 and then move onto Crawford Co, Ohio in 1821 and then eight-ten years(1829-1831) later move north to Michigan. I'm not sure if Elizabeth & children would have moved with James at the very beginning - or may have move later. If the family was moved in 1831 - then perhaps the second purchase of land was because Crawford County land was sold in 1831??

Check this "Ohio Migration" site(**see what I found OLBEAR**):

Looks like the beaten path was leading my James from Columbiana Co & Crawford Co to Michigan!!

Like I told somebody recently, it is like the ditty "the hurrier I go the behinder I get" - well this is "the more research I do, the more I find, the less I think that I know!" I get more information - but instead of answering questions - I just get more questions!!

So, to sum it all up. Looks like MY JAMES was in Columbiana Co, Ohio in 1820(not verified at this point), moved from there to Crawford County, Ohio in 1821 and then north to Schoolcraft, Kalamazoo Co, Michigan in 1829 - perhaps moving the family a bit later. BUT - where was James between 1788 b. Milton, PA and 1820 Columbiana Co, OH - and how do and verify his parents??? Could he be the son of Andrew Armstrong of Milton PA(not verified at this point)?

Well, whoever posted the Land Patents site - THANKS A LOT!!! I found another piece to the puzzle - one that I didn't know existed!!! - and not the one I WANTED to find!!

Thankful, really,

HELP! Looking for information on John RICE and Malinda KELLER or on his father Jesse RICE in Scioto and Pike Counties, Ohio.

John and Malinda RICE were living in Scioto Co. 5 May 1854 when their son John Henry RICE was born. Something must have happened to John Sr. and/or Malinda because John Henry was raised by William and Icabinda "Icy" (Bennett) BROWN. John Henry is on the 1870 Ohio census (Pike Co, Marion twp), age 6, as living with the Brown's.

John Henry RICE:
m. 1) Abigail MASTERS in 1887. They had one son, Earl Masters RICE.
Abigail died in 1895. Earl Masters RICE moved to Colorado.
m. 2) in Stockdale, Pike Co, 1895, Sarah "Sadie" Marie CULP (b. 4 Jul 1895, Stockdale, Pike Co., Ohio) . Dau of Andrew Jackson CULP (born 7 Jul 1824, Jackson Co., Ohio) and Eliza Jane GORDON (born 12 Sep 1835, Pike Co. Ohio)

John Henry and Sadie RICE emmigrated to Alberta, Canada abt. 1806. He and Sadie had 8 children between 1896 and 1912. John Henry left the family and moved to Colorado to live with his oldest son, Earl Masters RICE. John Henry d. 22 July 1934, Hayden, Colorado. Was buried in Hayden, Routt Co., Colorado.

b. Pennsylvania
m. 1: Elizabeth BENNETT
m. 2: Malinda KELLER
father: Jesse RICE

A Brown researcher sent me the following paragraph from a document that discusses the Stockdale, Pike Co., Ohio area in 1865 called "The County in 1865": "The Pollard house was then inhabited by John Rice. He moved west; sold to David Gordon, who lived there until his wife died (one of J. Rice's girls Becky) some 20 years later..." So according to this document, J. RICE (John RICE? or his father Jesse RICE?) had a daughter named Becky (Rebecca?). Rebecca RICE was married to David A. GORDON of Pike Co. (son of William Veradenburg GORDON and Maria BEAUCHAMP) .

Another Rice researcher has a Jesse RICE in her line who was born in Pennsylvania. In 1850, he was living in Scioto Co. His wife was named either Mary or Nancy. His children were John, Sarah, Rebecca, and Clarissa. She believes that he died 24 Jan 1891 in Scioto Co.

I have been unable to find my John RICE after 1865-1870 when he moved 'west'. Does anyone have any information on these RICE's, KELLER's, BENNETT's or GORDON's?

I would like to hear more stories about life in Bluestone and want to find any other Swedish family that may have known my family. My g-grandparents were Martin and Ida MATSON, their children were Robert, Melvin, Hugo and Minnie. After Martin died in 1894 or 1895, Ida married John (Ingvold) Hansen, their children were Dorothy, Roy, and Richard. Two children died while very young. Genealogy researches and e-mail (internet) are both new to me. I am trying to research information on my grandfather, Elmer W. WHITE, born in Ohio in approx. 1870. I do not know what county. He married Maggie M. (maiden name unknown) and they had 5 children, four of which were alive in 1910. I know that one son, Howard C. WHITE was also born in Ohio in 1907. The family moved to Calif. in approx. 1909 and left their oldest daughter in Ohio (her name is unknown).

I know this is very little information, but can you help or point me in the proper direction?

Thanks for your time.....

I am looking for information on John CALVERT who married Sarah (possibly Mary) DANIEL or DANIELS. At least one of John's sons was born in Belmont County in 1836. The son, James William Calvert, moved to Iowa, Appanoose County, and is listed in the 1860 census along with his mother. (I have historical information on James William if anyone is interested.)

I have checked the first names of census records for 1830, 1840, and 1850 for Belmont County and cannot identify any individual who was married to Sarah or Mary Daniels. There are other John Calverts living in Smith TWP at the time.

I was told by a relative many years ago that John's father's name was Jacob. I am not certain of this relationship, however.

The census records indicate that Sarah Daniels was born in Virginia. I do not know her father's name either.

Any and all help would be appreciated. This is a deadend in my research.

I would also like to thank you for including the Indiana Marriage record link on your page. I would like to contact the people who maintain the records. Do you have an address? (they did cross over the line didn"t they.)

If any of your loyal subscribers have information about this family, however, I would appreciate it: Delia Estelle Roberts was born on 10-4-1909 and died 3-22-1950. She was one of five children: Marcus Roberts, Russell Roberts, Pearl Roberts Rackley, and Mae Roberts Loaring, all of whom were reportedly alive in 1950.

Delia's parents were Richard Roberts and Llewellyn Morris. Richard Roberts died sometime between 1940 and 1950, presumably in Hamilton County, Ohio. Llewellyn Morris died in December, 1926 in Hamilton County, as well. Delia was reportedly buried in a family plot in the Spring Grove Cemetery in Cincinnati, so perhaps other family members rest there, as well. According to Delia Gibson's obituary, the family moved to Hamilton County from St. Louis, Missouri during her childhood.

If anyone has information to share, please let me know. Thanks.

Thanks for the address. Your e-mail request, after being researched, will be placed in our surname files so that anyone else researching the same name, will be able to contact you."

I need some assistance with the following:
My father's mother as well as all her children were born in Columbus. Her father was Gregory RAPP. I have found a Gregory Rapp in the 1900 Census but was not able to locate one in the 1870 or 1880 Censuses which may have my grandmother listed in his household. Her name was Ellen Mary Rapp or Mary Ellen RAPP. She was born on born Aug. 25, 1864(3), Columbus, Ohio (German Catholic descent). She deceased in Columbus, Ohio 1918 at Essex Ave., Columbus, Ohio. I have a copy of her death certificate that I obtained from the Ohio Historical Society. Her mother was supposed to have deceased when she was one or two years old. Ellen Rapp Roy's death certificate records her mother as Ellie KIMEY. I believe that KEIME is a more likely surname name based on telephone listing searches in the US and Germany.

John G. ROY - born Apr. 1854, England (Census - 1900) or Glasgow, Scotland ? (Scots-Irish descent) - Emigrated to USA at age 3 - deceased Nov. 15, 1914 at Detroit, Mich. - married Oct. 12, 1883. He was the head of household in the 1900 Census - residence Woodward Ave., Clinton TWP, Franklin County, Columbus, Ohio. (If anyone is interested, I can send information on the descendants of John G. Roy and Ellen Rapp Roy).

The following is information on Gregor(y) RAPP that I have not confirmed to be my relative:
From the 1900 Census soundex microfilm located at the National Archives, Washington, D.C.:
Gregory Rapp - born Nov. 1835 in Germany
Location: Pennsylvania Ave., Franklin County, Ohio, Montgomery TWP
Wife: Anna - born 1844 in Germany
Daughter: Kate - born Apr 1874 in Ohio
Son: Peter - born Sept 1874 in Ohio (I tried to use this birth month; year as well as Sept 1873; 1875 in the Social Security Death files but I didn't find anything. He was listed below Mary so he may have been born in 1884).
(I did not find Peter Rapp on the OHS dindex for the years available in Franklin County.)
Daughter: Lizzie - born July 1877 in Ohio
Daughter: Mary - born 1881 in Ohio
Granddaughter: Ida - born May 1891 in Ohio

Joseph RAPP was informant on Gregory Rapp's death certificate - how does he relate to Ellen Roy? Peter RAPP was informant on Anna Rapp's death certificate

The following is per LDS IGI files:
Father: Dominik(us) RAPP Katholisch, Beuren Ueberlingen,
Mother: Klara DREHER Konstanz, Baden , Germany
Joseph RAPP (M)....................... C: 15 Feb 1820
Anna Maria RAPP (F)................... C: 3 Feb 1821
Caspar RAPP (M)....................... C: 2 Jan 1822
Josephus RAPP (M)..................... C: 10 Feb 1823
Wendelinus RAPP (M)................... C: 27 Oct 1824
Maria Victoria RAPP (F)............... C: 16 Apr 1826
Francisca RAPP (F).................... C: 9 Mar 1828
Nicolaus RAPP (M)..................... C: 6 Dec 1830
Katharina RAPP (F).................... C: 24 Oct 1832
Jacob RAPP (M)........................ C: 26 Jul 1834
Gregor RAPP (M)....................... C: 16 Nov 1835
Agnes RAPP (F)........................ C: 6 Jan 1839
Philippine RAPP (F)................... C: 22 Apr 1841

Gregory RAPP's death certificate does not have information on his parents. I assume that Gregor Rapp and Gregory Rapp are one and the same person since the baptismal date and birth date agree.

I also presume that someone related to Gregor RAPP did research for LDS ceremonies and the FCGS may have some record of research done locally. If it seems peculiar that I don't know much about the relationship to the Rapps, according to what my father told me, his mother was disowned by the family when she married outside the Roman Catholic Church.

Other Ellen Rapp ROY relatives:
Maude Rapp - 1871 to 1946
Ralph Rapp - wife Eva Long (Rapp) Note: Ralph Rapp was acquainted with Gregory Roy who resides in Westerville.
Eva's mother was Lizzie Clinger (Long)

I have attempted to establish contact with Rapps in the Columbus area by way of e-mail but have not received responses.

Basically, I am trying to confirm a link between Gregory Rapp and Ellen Rapp Roy. If you have any information on Ellie Kimey (Keime) I would appreciate it also.(Note: I did white page searches find Keime listings in the USA and Germany.

I suspect that there are some good leads at the historic Catholic church in German Village, St. Marys Church, 684 South Third St., Columbus, OH 43206, (614) 445-9668.

As you can tell my surname is Burns. I have tried to locate my ggrandfather Burns in Ohio but I have had no luck. I only know that he was born in Adams Co., Ohio according to his death certificate. I don't know anything about his father and mother. There name was James and Salina (Lina) Burns. Her maiden name was Burnside.

Yes, I like to hear about the Burns surname. I have tried to go farther back but have not had any luck.

My first name is the poet. Would like to hear from you.

I just ran across my aunt's name and I thought I'd post it here: Her name was Pauline [BLANK] BOWMAN. Blank being her maiden name. She died a couple years ago, she was in the Heartland Fairfield County Care Center in Thornville, Ohio. She was born Sept. 12, 1911, I think. Does anyone have a link to this woman?

I am attempting to follow up on a reference found in "Early 19th Century German Settlers in Ohio" by Smith, Clifford Neal (part 2). I am unable to find this book. The reference was to NIKOLAUS WAGNER, of Akron, OH. I would like to discover records of Nikolas' immigration and naturalization probably in the years 1830-1860. The date on the article says 1837. Who can I contact for this information? Any assistance with this problem would be much appreciated. Also would welcome e-mail from persons researching the Wagner surname in the Akron area. Thank you.

Hi all:

I was wondering if someone could help me. I looking for a Richard Wilburn (Welborn or Welborne) who received a land grant or land in the Virginia Military Land in Highland County, Ohio probably prior to 1800. The Eastern Land Grants on the internet start at 1820. I have found him in the 1800 - 1810 taxes of Highland County. Probably his father or relative received the grant for war services. Richard was born abt 1715 in Va. and died in Highland County, Ohio at 105 yrs old.

Looking for a marriage for Richard about the same time, I have found a disputed will concerning his children in Highland County. No proof he was married at the time of the disputed will. Apparently the children lost the case since his wife, Elizabeth, inherited the land.

Would appreciate any help! Thanks again.

Dear Sir / Madam:

I am seeking the parents of Mary Ann (Radcliffe) McMahon who d. in Athens County, Ohio in 1845 at the age of 88.

She was married to Roger McMahon in Hampshire County, (W)VA. Some of her children's names may have been Richard who d. Athens, Ohio in 1809 (a Methodist minister?), Jesse, Benjamin and Nellie. Not much to go on, I know. In addition it is believed that she was b. in MD and might have Quaker background.

Thanks for being there when I can't be.

My gggg was Isaac Robinson. His son was John who was born about 1811 in Greene Co. Pa. He married Nancy (?) who was suppose to be a Delaware Indian. They had these children: Timothy, Sarah, Mary Ann, Benjamin, Elizabeth, and Melvina (my gg grandmother). Nancy died the same year my gg grandmother was born 1846...perhaps child birth. The first 3 children were born in Pa. The remainder, I believe were born in Monroe County Ohio. Melvina married Jeptha Bolen and had my great grandmother Ella Jane Bolen about 1869. By then I believe the family to be in the Wood County of West Virginia. John Robinson married 2 more times after Nancy died to: Elizabeth Caldwell Foutty and Matilda Melrose. I do not believe there were any children produced from these 2 marriages. My great grandmother Ella Jane Bolen married William Copen in West Virginia. Let me know if you have any similiar names.
