was in Pike Co., KY, as we know it today. John was the son of Obediah and
Marry "Polly" McCoy Blankenship." letter from Donald Blankenship 10 Dec 1990

"John Married Millie Prater, Born in 1818 in Floyd Co., KY. Millie had
two daughters before she married John. They Went by the name of Prater, But
John raised them as his own. Millie had a previous marriage to a Daniels after
the girls were born and before she married John. Even though the girls went by
the name of Prater Jenny's Father was a Taylor. JOhn and Millie were married
in 1837 in Pike Co., KY. John was 23 years old and Millie was 20 years old.
JOhn Died durring the Civil war in 1864 at the age of fifty years old. 14
years before Millies died on Dec 31 1878 at the age og 60. Millie was killed
by her own daughter Elizabeth (Bettie). Born about 1841. Elizabeth cut her
mothers head completely off dislocating her head from her body. Elizabeth was
institionized in Lexington, KY where she died many years later.

John and Millie's own children:

(1) John Wesley Born 1841 in Pkie Co., KY. Married Martha Blankenship born Oct
1842 in Tazwell CO., VA (she was the Daughter of WM. Blankenship.) Married on
MAy 9, 1861 in Pike Co., KY. John Wesley and Martha had 11 Children 7 boys and
3 girls. John died on May 4, 1920 at Argo, Ky and martha died on July 10 1914
at Argo, Ky.

(2) Francis Marrion born Nov 14, 1842 in Pike Co., KY{you had 1841?} Married
Milly ( Amilia) Phillips born 1844 in Pike Co., KY. She was the Daughter of
Jacob {Jake} and Elizabeth Keesee Philips.
