Oldest sister's name was Helen. She came to stay with Grandma when mom
was born at Vivian W.Va.
---------------------------------
Mother left him because Grandmother hated him with a passion. She went
back home to Elizabeth. She taught in Upsher County where she met Oscar
Hinkle.
---------------------------------
Vivian is a ghost town. The commissary is still there. And the company
is Peerless Coal and Coke.
---------------------------------
Find Divorce Records - Not in McDowell County need to check in Wirt
County.
---------------------------------
Mom has a faint memory of a chicken with new chicks. She remembers her
dad coming in and saying something killed the baby chicks. Her dad told her
mom "Don't let Helen go out there something killed the baby chicks." She ran
out and can't remember anything else. She looks like her dad.

Mom remembers that his oldest sister Helen came to visit them once in
Vivian. Maybe she is in the United States. Also need to check in Roanoke,
Virginia to see if he lived there. Mom also remembers something about him
living in foster homes. Mom also remembers that she was named after his sister
Helen. Grandma told her she was named after her because she was "so nice when
she visited".
---------------------------------
Check to see if he was a naturalized citizen and if any information can be
gleaned. For this you need a US Dept. of Justice - Form N-585 which is an
application for a Search of Records of the Immigration and Naturalization
Service.

In the Genealogies of Virginia Families I found reference to the CUNDIFF
