I looked up Persis Rawson in Crane's "Rawson Family Memorial". She is
listed as daughter of Thomas (4) Rawson (William 3, William 2, Edward) & his
first wife, Anna Walden. Thomas Rawson was born May 2, 1733 in Mendon.
However, Crane's entry for Persis is:
339-7. Persis, b. May 6,1751; m. Joseph Carpenter.
You'll have to double check the dates, because this looks
like it is a generation off.

about 1737. She d. 1783. Married 2d, Hannah Nelson, March 29, 1785. Settled
in Mendon, but d. July 10, 1802, in that part of Mendon now Milford.

The entry for William (3) Rawson is as follows:
39. Capt. William Rawson (William2, Edward) was born in Braintree, Dec. 2,
1682, and was a graduate of H.C. in 1703. He m. Sarah Crosby of
Billerice in 1710, and settled in Mendon. Was chosen Selectman March 11, 1729;
also chosen by the Selectmen to keep school for three months, beginning with
the 8th day of Dec., the same year, and to be paid at the rate of 45 pounds
per annum. March 1, 1731, chosen Town Clerk, which office he held for some
years. On the 29th of November chosen to keep a Grammar School for three
months,- no doubt the first school of that grade opened in Mendon. No doubt he
was successful, for again, in April 1737, he was engaged to keep a Grammar
School ten months. He took a very active part in town matters, and was a very
popular man in his day. He d. Oct 1769.
Capt. William (3) Rawson & Sarah Crosby had 8 children, of whom Thomas b.
May 2, 1733, was the youngest.

William (2) Rawson was b. May 21, 1651; m. Anne Glover, July 31, 1673. He
d. Sept. 20, 1726 in his 75th year. She died about 1730, aged 74 years.
