Died on April 13, 1942 at 10:30 P.M. due to accidental burns received on April
13, 1942. He was 81 years, 3 months, and 15 days of age at the time. - Src. is
Certificate of Death. CJR

According to Bill Womble (Thomas's grandson) there were no markers on the
graves at the Family Farm. When I visited the site on Sept. 12, 1991, I found
that there is a new stone for Thomas and his wife, and a separate stone for
Milton Edwin Jones, their son. I believe that Virgie Carter (my great aunt)
may have had the stones put there. CJR

Directions to farm: Go to Gatesville. Go through caution light and cross over
Bennett's Creek. Soon you will see a saw mill to your right and a paved road.
Across the main road is a dirt road, rte 1402. Turn left here. The land is at
the next dirt road (to your right) and it lays on both sides of the connecting
road. The family cemetary is in a grove of trees on the corner. CJR 9/12/91

According to the Gates County Tax Office, the farm is listed as owned by Virgia
Carter (Suffolk) and is assessed as follows:

20 acres tillable - 22000
5 acres woods - 2000

Total - 24,000.00

She has paid the taxes on it. See Thomas Jones' will. CJR 9/12/91

Will of T. E. Jones:

NORTH CAROLINA
GATES COUNTY

I, T. E. Jones of the aforesaid county and State, being of sound mind, but
considering the uncertainty of this earthy existence, do make and declare this
my last will and testament.

1st. It is my will and desire that my body be given a decent burial, suitable
to the wishes of my friends and relatives, and that my funeral expenses,
together with all my just debts be paid by executor hereinafter named out the
first monies coming into his hands belonging to my estate.

2nd. I give, devise and bequeath to my beloved wife Laura J. Jones, should she
survive me, for and during the period of her natural life only, my home farm in
Hunters Mill Township. Gates County, N.C., containing Twenty Five Acres, more
or less.

3rd. Subject to the life estate of my said wife, it is my will and desire and
I do hereby give and devise to my Son W. H. Jones as Trustee for the use of my
Son Milton Jones said Home Farm to be held in trust by him during the period of
the natural life of my said son Milton Jones for the maintenance and support of
said Milton Jones: one/Half of the rents and profits from said Farm to be used
by said Trustee for the support and maintenance of said Milton Jones and the
other One/Half of said rents and profits to go to said Trustee as compensation
to him for his services in renting and attending.

4th. Subject to the provisions of Items Two and Three hereof, I hereby give,
devise and bequeath said Home in fee simple to my children Kate Brown, Allie
Womble, Rosa Norton, W. H. Jones and Virgie Carter, their heirs and assigns in
fee simple.

5th. I hereby direct my Executor hereinafter named to sell my Chattel
Properties for the purpose of discharging my debts and expenses of
administration.

I hereby constitute and appoint my Son W. H. Jones, my lawful Executor, to all
intents and purposes, to execute this my Last Will and Testament, according to
the true intent and meaning thereof, hereby revoking and declaring utterly
voild all other wills by me heretofore made.

In witness whereof, I said T. E. Jones, do hereunto set my hand and seal, this
11th day of April, 1941.
