(This cemetery has been labeled the Powell Cemetery. There is a sign there, and the cemetery is now [June 10, 1998] very well-kept.)

Transcribed by Don Ort at QAORT@aol.com on 1/25/98. (Every effort was made to copy the records exactly as viewed on the film #1320838 from the FHC. If a word is spelled incorrectly it was probably that way on the film also.) (Original stones transcribed by Olive Ruffner on 15 January 1967.)

Cemetery - Franklin County (Madison Township?)

Possibly there is a name for this small family-type cemetery, but if so, I do not have the name. It is located just outside the village of BRICE just off Brice Road on REFUGEE ROAD - a couple hundred yards East of Brice Road - on farm property as Refugee Road bends to the South.

ARCHIBALD POWELL - died 3 September 1888 - 83 years, 9 months, 2 days

ELIZABETH POWELL - wife of Archibald - died 29 April 1878 - 85 yrs, 10 mos, 6 dys

WILLIAM A. GRAY - son of Joseph and Sarah - died 12 August 1868 - 4 mos., 10 days

JOSEPH POWELL - died 11 June 1863 - 76 yrs., 6 mos., 4 days

LOVINA J. - daughter of W.E. and M.A. PETERMAN - died 18 August 1876 - 33 yrs., 9 mos., 25 days

MINNIE B. - daughter of O.F. and R.M. SPRAGUE - died 18 January 1864, 5 mos., 17 days

There are possibly a dozen stones that are broken, buried, or illegible. A neighbor tells me that the Powell family were founders of Brice.
