LEININGEN, LEININGER, LININGER, VON LEININGEN posted by Ben on Sunday, November 8, 1998

I would like more information on the LEININGER family. This surname has also been found spelled LININGER, LEININGEN, and VON LEININGEN. This family once ruled an area in Western Germany near Alsace. They came to the U.S. in two periods: in the 1600's and in 1837. My great-great-great-grandfather, Conrad Leininger/Lininger was born in Hesse-Darmsdadt in 1818. I would like to trace that lineage to the German royalty. Please e-mail me if you have any info on this surname or Conrad Leininger.
