Benjamin MARKHAM was born about 1836 in VA/WV and married Emma, daughter of John C. COUNTS and Margaret LILLY, in 1875 there in Gallia County. Emma was born in Kanawha County, VA/WV. They had 3 children that I know of: William (1876), James (1878), and Maggie (1879). Benjamin must've died, and Emma then married William HENSLEY in 1891 in Kanawha County and they had Nine Kate (1893) and Ira (1896). I don't have exact birth or death dates for Benjamin MARKHAM or Emma COUNTS but William HENSLEY died in 1837. If Emma is buried with him then she has no marker. I suspect she is buried with husband #1, Ben MARKHAM, UNLESS... Ben was married before Emma. Possible since he was almost 40 at the time of his marriage to Emma. Can anybody add/correct/share any info on any of these folks?

What I am having problems with is that all the Knights that arrived here in Iowa in the 1840s claimed to be from Gallia County, Ohio. The census records for that time period show them as having lived near Monroe - which is now part of Jackson County. There's also a possibility that they farmed just across the border in Gallia County. I'm looking for any information in regards to them. We know that they came to the area from Maryland, most likely Cedric County. The Knights that were born in Maryland and moved to Ohio were Curtis and Hannah KNIGHT. There were a number of children born in Ohio including William and David.

John Merrill DAVIS b 1846 marr Jane Elliot BOYD. Son of William & Samantha CHASE DAVIS. John M. DAVIS was the President of Rio Grande College in 1905. Lived in Rio Grande as far as I know to 1920. They had one Child that I know of named Charles. Charles marr Carrie LAWSON she was a School Teacher. She marr 2nd to Dr. Mc LAUGHLIN in 1935.They moved to Jackson, Ohio after marriage. I lost track of her there. Charles & Carrie had 2 ch: James b 1902 & Dorothy who marr a CLARK. When Charles became ill the family moved to Rio Grande. Carrie ran a store in the old Varney bldg. 1920 she purchased a grocery business in the old Denney bldg. She also ended up purchasing the whole bldg. The family lived up stairs. Dorothy has provided this information and it was found online. I'm looking for the descendants to this family. I look forward to any additonal information also.
