About the Society

The Greater Cleveland Genealogical Society was formed in December 1971, organized in January 1972, and incorporated August 17, 1973.

The purpose of the Society is to create and build interest in preserving and collecting historical and genealogical records of this and related areas of Ohio; to locate, catalogue, and preserve genealogical records and make them available to the public by publishing and circulating literature relative to the purposes and acquisitions of the Greater Cleveland Genealogical Society; to encourage and promote an active interest in genealogical research.

Membership is open to all interested individuals, families, libraries and Societies.

The Greater Cleveland Genealogical Society is a non-profit organization under Section 501 (c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code of 1954. Gifts and legacies are deductible. See the "Donations" page herewith.
