BASQUIN - Geauga Republic, 11 July 1850 - "Notice: Whereas it is generally known that for some reason I was last year induced to separate from my husband Oliver U. Basquin, justice to him and to me requires that I should make known to the public the real causes which led to the separation. It was owing solely to the perversions of those whom I regarded as friends that I left him and not because of any ill-treatment to me. During the period of our separation, I have been known while under excitement and the influence of an improper prejudice to make remarks derogatory to his character which I desire to contract, as they were unfounded. Had I paid less attention to the false stories and the shallow hearted advise of others, I am satisfied it would have been better for all concerned. Clarissa A. Basquin, Chardon, Ohio, July 2, 1850."
