NOTES: He graduated 3 Jul 1841 from Wesleyan University in Middletown CT, and in 1842 from Lane Theological Seminary in Cincinnati, OH. He was Professor of Ancient Languages and Literature at IL Wesleyan University in Blomington IL and at the Wesleyan University in Athens, OH. He was president of Illinois Wesleyan University, and for many years an acctive member of the Ohio and Illinois Conferences of the Methodist Episcopal Church. He served as Chaplain of the 95th Regt., OH Vol INF and died at Urbana, OH of disease contracted during the Vicksburg campaign.

Clinton married Angeline Brooks, daughter of Moses Brooks and Lydia Ransom on 1 Jun 1842 in Cincinnati, OH. She was born 20 Sep 1817 and died 17 Dec 1848 in Mt. Auburn, OH.
