Michael Schultes was born in Bavaria, Germany and immigrated to the US in 1872 with at least three children: Barbara, John & Sarah. It is unknown if Michael's first wife immigrated with the family or not.

On 17 September 1878, Michael married Barbara "Babette" Graf Kuper/Kupfer, daughter of Ignatz Graf of Baden, Germany. She was born 4 December 1842 in Baden, Germany. Barbara married 1st to Philip Kuper/Kupfer on 27 October 1868 at Old St. Mary's Catholic Church, Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., OH. They had a child, Mary, born in July 1869, d. 13 Jan 1930. Mary married Herman Wlecke, they had a daughter, Eleanor K. Eleanor married but did not have children.

Children of Michael and Barbara are: Gregory, b. 8 July 1879, d. 10 May 1863, Margaret, b. 27 Sept 1881, d. 25 July 1967, Emma, b. 8 Jun 1884, d. Apr 1985, Katharina, d. 28 Jan 1884.

Gregory m. 1st. on 7 June 1899 at St. Peter's Indepedent German Evangelical Church, Elm & Findley Sts., Cincinnati, HAMILTON County, Ohio by Rev. H. W. Pohlmeyer. They had two children and later divorced. Both sons married and had children.

Gregory m. 2nd Elsie K. Aufdermarsh, daughter of Henry "Hy" Aufdermarsh and Matilda Buhrlage. They had one daughter Elsie "Marie". She married and had children.

Margaret m. John Schmidlin. They did not have children.

Emma m. Charles "Doc" J. Bernhard, son of Charles and Mary Bernhard. They had two boys who survived.
