Jackson township, Miami county, IN on the P., C. & St. L. R'y, 20 miles southwest of Peru, the county seat, and 20 northeast of Kokomo, either of which are used a banking places. It was settled in 1844, and contains Methodist, Christian and United Brethren churches, good graded school, 1 hotel, 1 tannery, 1 flour mill, 1 drain tile factory and a weekly newspaper--the Times. Daniel Badger- Record shows a total of nine persons living at the residence.
Listed 2 white males under 21, Total of 4 males under age 21, 1 white female under 21. Total of 2 females under age 21. Maybe some Indians living with the family.

Daniel Badger- 2 males 10-14 yrs, 2 males 15-19, 1 male 60-69, 1 female 50-59.

1820 Census in Randolph Co IN
Early Land records of land in Grant Co IN indicate that Daniel Badger owned land located in section 24 in Pleasant Twp. on 5 April 1830. Also owned land in Section 31 Washington Twp. on 8 July 1826 Appears to be one of the earliest to record land in the area.
1877 Kingman Atlas for Grant Co IN shows the first school house was built on the Daniel Badger (now the George Grindler) farm. Early Teachers were: Cancy, Anthony,Badger and Gilnor.
The first election in Grant Co was held at the house of Daniel Badger in the Spring of 1833.
A Daniel Badger was drafted in Randolph Co IN on 4 Sep 1812 and discharged in Detroit on 7 Feb 1813 as part of War of 1812.

John Grisham was born 23 Oct. 1825 in Estill County, Kentucky. He married Sarah Ann South, daughter of John D. and Spicy (Skinner) South on Sept. 1849 in David County, IA. She died about 1861 in Linn County, OR. He married second Elizabeth J. Badger, daughter of Ephraim and Elma (Ruble) Badger on 1 Mar. 1863 in Linn Co. She was born 10 Dec. 1847 in Indiana.

John Grisham appears on the 1870 Linn Co. census with his wife Elizabeth and his children: John F., William M., and Sophronia.

John and Elizabeth's children: William M. (1864-1888), Sophronia (1866-1933), Charles V. (1871-1956), Lemuel (1873-1958), Emma E. (1875-1961), Ira C. (1877-1929), and Oscar (1880-1962).

John died June 11, 1892 near Lacomb of a fatal wagon accident. Elizabeth died May 1, 1933 in Lebanon, OR.
