CHANCE, WISE, WOOD posted by Douglas L. Hatto on Saturday, February 1, 1997

William WOOD and wife Margaret had several children in the area of Jefferson, Belmont and Harrison Counties in late 1700's. William WOOD's will was probated in Harrison Co. about 1832. Of their children 3 daughters married CHANCE men. Effie married Joshua CHANCE 1812, Isabel married Aaron CHANCE 1810 and Margery married Joseph CHANCE 1815. According to marriage index, all three marriages took place in Jefferson Co. Looking for any information on the origian of these folk, descendants, burials, etc. Our ancestors, Joshua CHANCE and Effie WOOD had a daughter Rachael born about 1816, possible Harrison Co. They were later found in Coshocton Co. where Rachael married Benjamin WISE and had family. The CHANCE/WOOD parents disappeared from Coshocton Co. and may have returned to the Harrison Co. area.

My grandfather, Samuel Smith MILLER, was born in Germano Ohio on 5 Nov 1880. His parents were Jacob MILLER and Rachel SMITH. I have a bible that was presented to Jacob MILLER on 25 Dec 1883 from his Sunday School Class of the Reformed Sabboth School - New Jefferson, Ohio. Is this a Reformed Lutheran Church? And if so, does it still exist? I would appreciate hearing from anyone who might know and also anyone researching the same names.
