GRIFFIN, HALL, HILL, JOHNSON, LACEY, MCCONNELL, PENN, SUDDETH, WATSON posted by Jadean (McConnell) Hopper on Wednesday, May 6, 1998

I am researching the HILL family from Harrison County, Ohio. My beginning ancestor is Eli HILL b. 12 April 1815 maybe in Maryland (this hasn't been proven) Eli first shows up in a marriage record in Harrison Co. with Mary Ann PENN, daughter of John PENN and Hannah (WATSON) PENN. Eli and Mary Ann were married 23 August 1839. Eight children were born to this couple John W. (my line), Eli, Caroline "Callie", Jennie, Mary Elizabeth "Lib", Maria, Thomas Butler, and possibly Susan. Eli and family resided in Harrison Co. Ohio for several years moving then to Dennison, Tuscarawas County, Ohio. Eli died in Dennison on the 7 December 1890/1893 (seen both years in data). His wife Mary Ann died in Dennison on the 13/20 February 1898. They both were taken to Cadiz, Ohio and buried in Cadiz Union Cemetery. I do not know anything about Eli before his marriage to Mary Ann PENN. Is there anyone researching the HILL surname from Harrison Co. Ohio? If so I would love to hear from you. I would like to further my research and locate Eli's parents and any siblings that he might have had. I have quite a bit of data on Eli, his wife, and children and I am willing to share what data I have on them. Thank you and Happy Hunting everyone.

COLE, UNDERHILL posted by on Sunday, May 31, 1998

I am looking for information about Isaac UNDERHILL from Harrison County Ohio. He was born in about 1838 and was marrried to a Sarah COLE who was born in about 1841. I was presented a photo of a man in a union uniform and with a young women with six boys standing behind her. The man I believe was holding a very white two year old child with long ringlet blond hair. The young women and the boys were indian and the man was approximately mid twenties early thirties. These were my great great grandparents and the photo was presented by a Pittenger who claims to be related. The couple left Ohio in 1865 and went to Missouri were my grandmother Mary was born. Then they moved on to Nebraski after Sarah's father died not long after. If anyone has information about this family, I really am excited to receive it. I would really like to know what happened.
