FOSTER, HENDRICKSON posted by Doug Showalter on Monday, November 8, 1999: I am seeking information on John J. FOSTER [b: 1793/98/99, MD] who married Fanny HENDRICKSON in 1822 in Harrison Co., OH. She was a sister of Solomon HENDRICKSON of Fox Twp in Columbiana Co. John J. FOSTER and his brother, Frederick Levi FOSTER [b: abt 1792, MD] appear in the 1830 census of Columbiana Co. in Washington Twp, along with "Widow" FOSTER. Siblings [likely] William FOSTER, Daniel FOSTER, and Aaron FOSTER may have come to OH with them from Harford Co., MD. John and Frederick bought land in what became Carroll Co., OH, beginning 1825. By the mid1830's these brothers left OH, and finally settled in McDonough Co., IL. I have more information on these families on my genealogical web site, whose URL is listed below. PLATT posted by Shari Bruce on Monday, November 8, 1999: John PLATT -1817 Hotel owner in Cadiz, Harrison Co, Ohio Pioneer Ohio Newspapers Vol II, (239) reports an entry in the Steubenville Western Herald, Friday 14 Feb 1817, Volume X, No. 6.: "John Platt has opened the Ohio Hotel on Main Street in Cadiz. " Does anyone have any information about this hotelkeeper or how long the hotel was open?

OADES, PARKS posted by Maynard Oss on Thursday, November 11, 1999: Rebecca William(s) PARKS b. Apr 6, 1832, unknown site, d. Oct 1, 1908, Clay County, Minnesota. From research I have determined by mor-mor-mor lived in Harrison County for a period of time prior to moving to New Orleans. In New Orleans she met my mor-mor-far [Francis Thomas OADES, Jr.] and they were married ca. 1853. In the 1881 Canadian Census for Ontario she lists herself as 'Welsh'. In one letter from my aunt, she states Rebecca had the middle name of William(s) because her father's name was William(s) Parks.

Married Mary RIZOR who is listed in 1850 Census as living in Harrison Co., Moonfield Twp., with son John JUMPS and daughter Nancy THATCHER and her 2 children, Daniel and Delila. Samuel and Mary had another son named Samuel. I am a descendant of their son Jacob who moved to Vermilion Co., IL and died there.

WHARTON posted by Carolynn Leblanc on Monday, November 22, 1999: I am searching for info on my gggrandfather John WHARTON b Mar 3 1842 in Ohio. I have no parents or siblings but he was married to a Sarah unkn b Sept 1842. They were living in Carthage, Hancock, IL when my ggrandmother Lillie Elvirah WHARTON was born in 1864 and moved to Lee co, Iowa, where they lived and are buried near Ft. Madison. They had three other children. I believe that he is related to Ezra WHARTON from Harrison co, OH, as many unusual first names are the same in both families. Any help would be appreciated.
