Hetuck Chapter is very proud of the many awards they have received during the last 110 years. We can't tell you about those during the early years but we can relate some of the more recent ones.
We have participated in the mile-of-change sponsored by State DAR Schools Chairman. Each person is required to give one foot of change (of any denomination) and at the end of the year we would need approximately 100 feet. We have received a certificate each year for 100% participation by our members.
We received the NSDAR Outstanding Program Contest Award with 1st place in Ohio. The program was given by one of our own members centered around "Letters from her Grandmother Jennie."
Our chapter received Level 1 certificates for National Chapter Achievement: 2001, 2002, 2003, and 2004 and Certificates for Scrapbooks at State Conference.
Certificate for 100% participation in President General's Project 2001/04 and we expect to receive one for the 2004/07 term as all members have participated.
Third place National Award for Women's Issues essay by Hetuck member, Ann Howard, concerning her career as a nurse.
In 2003/04, we received awards as a chapter at State Conference as follows: Best Chapter Newsletter in State of Ohio, 100% participation in schools "mile of change", and certificates for pressbook and scrapbook.
Our chapter received a 1st place award Nationwide (3 way tie) for Outstanding Chapter Print Publicity for Public Relations/Motion Picture, Radio and Television.
In December 2004, we were notified that we received the Web Page of the Month Award, which covers all webpages in the National Society.
Marie Chapman, literacy awards for 2003/04 and 2004/05 for her volunteer work in tutoring Mexican Children the English language.
Nancy Rey was awarded certificates for: 1st place Outstanding CHAPTER Level Volunteer Information Specialist (e-mail, newsletter, website etc.), 1st place Outstanding STATE Level Volunteer Information Specialist and Outstanding STATE Volunteer Information Specialist. She also received certificates of appreciation for helping with the Ohio Indexing Project and for her donations to American Indians.
