NORWALK

Hugh Reginald Griffin, 87, Norwalk, died Monday, December 11, 2000 at his home in Norwalk, Huron County, Ohio after a lengthy illness.

He was born September 11, 1913 in Dover Township, ( now Westlake) Cuyahoga County , Ohio, and was a farmer all of his life. He was involved in community affairs in Townsend Township for 57 years.

He is survived by his wife, Betty H. (Hoffman) Griffin, to whom he was married 34 years; two daughters,  Katherine (Kate) Jett of Bellevue, Jean Garnes of Blairsville, Pa., beloved step-daughters April Ward, of Norwalk, Roy and March Gadd of Lewisville, Texas, David and Schuyler Young of Albany, Ga., and Willough Lust of McCutchenville, Ohio; dear step-son-in-law Ron Linder of Norwalk, five grandchildren, 16 step-grandchildren  and 26 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one step-daughter, Scott Linder; his parents, Charles Augustus and Mary (Mitchell) Griffin; and two brothers,  Glen in infancy and Charles Edwin.

 Evans & Groff Funeral Home, 314 E. Main St., Norwalk, was in charge of funeral arrangements.  Services were conducted on Thursday, December 14 by the Rev. Carl Fannin of Collins United Methodist Church.

Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Norwalk.
